Boosters for the University of Alabama athletic department paid off head football coach Nick Saban’s $3.1 million home last year, according to a report from AL.com.

The report says that the Crimson Tide Foundation, a non-profit organization, paid off Saban's 8,759-square-foot home in January 2013, even though the foundation was under no obligation to do so. The Sabans still live there, and the foundation still pays for property taxes on the home each year.

Nick and Terry Saban's current home was bought for $3.1 million by the Crimson Tide Foundation in March 2013, al.com reported Monday.
The Crimson Tide Foundation is a private, donor-funded nonprofit dedicated to supporting Alabama athletics. Its assistant secretary, Scott Phelps, told al.com the foundation purchased the home -- and paid for its 2013 property taxes as the Sabans reside there -- as a show of appreciation for Saban's success.

"It's not all that unusual in the world for universities to provide the housing," Phelps said. "We want to keep him happy. We think he is the best coach in America."

Well, I certainly admire you. I only had 3 and it was all I could do to raise them.
