Title: Re: Women's WC Final USA vs Japan Post by: 2Stater on July 17, 2011, 03:35:17 PM Going to extra time. The USA should have killed them. Many, many chances that could have put this game away early.

Title: Re: Women's WC Final USA vs Japan Post by: Old Tider on July 17, 2011, 04:18:45 PM Going to penalty kicks. The dumbest way to decide an even game. Imagine football players kicking a series of field goals to determine the outcome. Title: Re: Women's WC Final USA vs Japan Post by: Old Tider on July 17, 2011, 04:43:04 PM Well, that continues our sports wipeout this year: tennis, golf and now this. Let's hope we beat somebody at next year's Olympics.

Let's hope we beat somebody at next year's Olympics. OT, it's breaking my heart. American sports dominated the world in all the things you mentioned and now there seems to be a lack of American pride. I'm not saying that was the case with the girls today because they outplayed the crap out of Japan. A couple of stupid mistakes cost them, but we need to show the world again who we are. Twice we had the lead and then started playing not-to-lose and you know how that usually turns out.

Title: Re: Women's WC Final USA vs Japan Post by: Jamos on July 17, 2011, 07:40:33 PM How many teams, football or whatever, have we ever seen that will get a lead and try to sit on it and win? I hate it for the ladies but sitting on a lead will usually beat you.
Last years Iron Bowl!!! >:( Title: Re: Women's WC Final USA vs Japan Post by: Chechem on July 17, 2011, 07:53:03 PM How many teams, football or whatever, have we ever seen that will get a lead and try to sit on it and win? I hate it for the ladies but sitting on a lead will usually beat you. Last years Iron Bowl!!! >:( They always do that in soccer. I was listening to today's game on the radio. The British announcers kept saying the US team should hold the ball and delay once they had the 2-1 lead. I was screaming, "attack, don't let up". Hell, the Japanese team was exhausted; run up the score. But the USA team didn't attack and lost. I was sick. Blown chance of a lifetime. Think of all of the endorsements lost !!! ;D :D :D ;D |
