As Saban said after the game and again this past week, Alabama didn't prepare for Dobbs, who is the Vols' only mobile quarterback and hadn't taken a single snap this season until he entered in last week's first quarter. When Dobbs played the entire second half against Alabama in his collegiate debut last season, he ran three times for 19 yards.

"They basically ran a combination of Auburn and Mississippi State's offense that we didn't practice for at all," Saban said. "Everything that we practiced for in the game, they didn't do. Our players really had to do a lot of adjusting in the game. We probably could have done a better job of helping them adjust in the game.

"It was really good planning on their part, and it was poor preparation on our part. But at the same time, you can't prepare for a ghost that you have no idea is going to happen." ...

...Even after surrendering a season-high 181 rushing yards to the Vols, Alabama remains the SEC's No. 1 rush defense and it's not even close. The Crimson Tide's average of 78.1 yards allowed per game is just 1 away from Penn State, which leads the nation, and is 42 better than the SEC's second-best rush defense, Florida.

The Crimson Tide has yet to allow a 100-yard rusher. With proper preparation, Alabama hopes it can make that claim at the end of the month -- especially at quarterback.

Got mobile QB's galore coming up. We'll certainly need to be prepared.
