Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: McBaman on November 16, 2014, 11:00:44 AM ESPN story...
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11885343/will-muschamp-return-florida-gators-coach-next-season Video clip mentions Rich Rod as a possible candidate. That would be ironic! Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: Jamos on November 16, 2014, 11:12:42 AM My dad used to say "don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach", in other words don't put more on your plate than you can eat and I think this is the case with Muschamp. He followed a coach at Florida that had been pretty successful so Florida's expectations of him would be for Muschamp to come in and be an instant winner.
You would think it would have been easy for Muschamp at Florida with the huge recruiting base in the state of Florida and Georgia, but that hasn't been the case at all. Sometimes our egos get the better of us and personally I think that was his biggest problem, his ego put more on his plate than he could handle. Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 16, 2014, 12:51:25 PM Muschamp got Muschamp fired. His forte was defense & he would not let the OC operate a real offense. He was conservative with a blah offense & now he is paying the price. No matter what anyone thinks, the offense & defense is dictated by the head coach & the freedom he gives his coordinators.
 Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 16, 2014, 12:54:48 PM I have to say I admire him for taking responsibility and not whining about not being supported, bad luck, etc.
Quote "I was given every opportunity to get it done here and I simply didn't win enough games -- that is the bottom line," Muschamp said in a statement. "I'm disappointed that I didn't get it done and it is my responsibility to get it done. :dog: Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: McBaman on November 16, 2014, 12:58:36 PM Lots of names popping up on ESPN in writers' tweets: Bob Stoops...Freeze...Kirby Smart...Jim Mc...
After seeing his friend Muschamp fail at UF, I wonder if this affects Kirby's thinking? After seeing his friend Muschamp fail at UF, I wonder if this affects Kirby's thinking? I think it affects Florida's thinking. No way are they taking a chance on another assistant. They will go for a head coach. :dog: Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: ricky023 on November 16, 2014, 01:52:21 PM I think CKS knows when CNS will turn the reins over and he is willing to win NC and wait it out. If he leaves I think I would like to see CWM come to Alabama under CNS again. They sure were good at LSU in what they built. I remember the first thing I thought when CNS was hired at LSU, We will never beat those guys again. Time will tell. This is JMHO. RTR!

Now we have a chance to transfer Mullen to Florida, and get him out of the SEC west. Getting where all of the SEC-w coaches think they can win. :dunno: Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: ricky023 on November 16, 2014, 04:47:35 PM Either way will mullen leave the program he has built from the ground up. He might not want to give up his work to another. Strange things happen in coaching. We shall see. RTR!

(http://www.centuryproductsllc.com/wp-content/uploads/holding-money.jpg) Personally, he leaves because he knows MSU is a hole & he can never expect to make the program a consistent winner. This year is an anomaly, he can expect 8-4, 7-5 to be par for the season at MSU (at best). Their football stadium seats a whopping 62,000 & their facilities are inferior to most others in the SEC. MSU fans probably believe he will stay for the love of Starkville and the MSU program, but they are wrong. By the way, MSU loses 13 starters to graduation and might lose a couple of juniors to the NFL. They will be toast next year. :popcorn2: Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: BAMADCHAMPSHIPS on November 16, 2014, 05:36:02 PM Keep your eye on Bobby P. for the Florida job..
Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 16, 2014, 06:19:52 PM Keep your eye on Bobby P. for the Florida job.. I just think Petrino has too much baggage & Mullen, Hugh Freeze, & Stoops might be available. I kinda believe that Petrino would not leave Louisville, again. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: N.AL-Tider on November 16, 2014, 06:43:25 PM Either way will mullen leave the program he has built from the ground up. Mullens might leave but not because he knows he can't sustain a winning tradition. If he does it will be because UF or some other school comes up with more money. Period. I seriously doubt Miss State can match the money that UF can throw at him. If he goes there as their HBC then I think within 3 years they will be competing/winning the SECe. Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: 2Stater on November 16, 2014, 06:59:18 PM What's funny is that a lot of people were disrespecting Mullen over the last couple of years, comparing him to coaches like Charlie Weiss and Houston Nutt.
Title: Re: Will Muschamp finished at Florida; Post by: Chechem on November 16, 2014, 07:00:00 PM Don't get me wrong. I know it's not the money, per se. It's power.
Just as Tuberville's wife said after he left Ole Miss and took the Aub job. She implied that shopping in Oxford was limited. She wanted more (Opelika??). Actually, she WANTED... That was the key. She wanted what she didn't have. Those who haven't had much money always think it's coaches wanting more money, as if coaches worry about paying the bills or affording those vacations. When you make $5M, those worries are replaced by others. It's power. You want the Florida job, because you want it. And you want to hear the cheers when you accept it. And the money helps the wife get what she WANTS. While the dough is nice, I think it comes down to the Joes. And there are a lot more Joes in Florida than Mississippi. For coaches like Tubs, it is about finding shopping venues for the wife these days. I bet he never heard the end of it from his wife while coaching at Texas Tech. :lol2: Hence the move to Cincy.
