Title: BR - Hot Shot Playmakers on Offense Nick Saban's Still Wooing

Quarterbacks -

On the hot list is Jameis Winston, the big 6'4'', 218 pound quarterback considered the nation's number one dual threat quarterback from Hueytown, Alabama. He's also a pro baseball recruit.

Next on the list and a little cooler on the hot list is Gunner Kiel - another big 6'4'', 220 pounder from Columbus, Indianna. He's considered the number one pro style quarterback in the the nation. Seems to be leaning toward Indiana, but it's down to them and Alabama in most of his friend's eyes.

I think Winston is becoming more of a problem for Bama's recruiting of the two quarterbacks because of his possible baseball career. There's no doubt that Winston is going very high in the baseball draft, good possibility in the first round, and there's no way he will refuse that kind of money.

Kiel on the other hand is playing the waiting game on Winston as to see who he commits to before making a decision. I think this is hurting Bama's chances of getting him.

If I were Bama I would go after Kiel and forget about Winston.

You are correct, sir.  This is a common problem in recruiting; nothing new.  But our coaches know how to deal with it.  Straight talk and clear offers trump anything else.  This is a symptom of top-ranked teams.  Get used to it.

I think we'll get Kiel, probably within 10 days.  He doesn't sound like he really wants to wait.

It is usually easier to get, and retain, a recruit from a geographic region close to the school.  And if Bama passed on that local talent, it might find itself facing that talent down the road.
