Title: Auburn Not Enjoying National Championship
Post by: Marshal Dillon on July 22, 2011, 11:21:21 PM
I think this guy hit the nail right on the head.

He said he's had a blast.

Why don't I believe him?

Maybe because I looked at his face and saw the anguish. Maybe because I've read all the stories. Maybe because on the eve of Gene Chizik's presentation at SEC Media Days on Thursday, another bomb dropped.

Even the trip to Washington, D.C. was tainted and overlooked by the media. Postponed due to the storms, while national attention (sadly) was focused on Tuscaloosa.  Instead of celebration, the past 6 months has seen the barners losing the PR war in a defensive posture, with "right" looking suspiciously over the shoulder of "wrong". Leave it to the barn to manage to take the glory out of football.  LOL

Well said.

People are tired of cheating-to-win players and guilt-never-proven criminals.  These Boogers didn't earn it, and now they have to sleep with the consequences.

You dont see that many national championship stickers and crap.  I think most of them are embarrassed, as they should be.

I'm waiting for the LOI.  I called a buddy this week after Sheridan's bombshell to see if the Boogers had gotten it and were holding back news until after Media Days.  Nope.

Go into a Ross or TJ Maxx discount clothing store. There are racks of barn championship stuff there. Real cheap too.

Excellent point. I think I've seen one guy wearing a NC ball cap and that's it. I think they're afraid someone will start asking them about Scam, Trooper, McGregor, Lowder, ATM machines, etc.

Leave it to the boogs. Their first "ChAMpionship" in over 50 years, and they have to spend all their time defending themselves instead of enjoying it. Of all the scenarios that had them winning a championship this past year, this is by far the most satisfying outcome for me.  8)

My neighbor was wearing an AU BCS ball cap. She got mad at me when I asked her how much the hat cost $180 thousand?

“I sleep really good every night when my head hits the pillow,” Chizik said.

Must be a lot of Ambien involved.

HA HA!

I think tOSU mess has added to the cloud over the Barn's NC.  It added to the 'fed up' feeling among fans & the press, and, it showed that coverups can successfully go on for a long time, and, it called into question statements from coaches that were thought to be straight arrows.  So folks are suspicious, there is evidence around about $Cam's $180k (although not proven) and NCAA is still investigating.

Putting all that together, Barn's NC just doesn't feel legit and no amount of PR effort from them will change that.

I'm not sure AU would enjoy anything unless it involves sex with barnyard animals.

I am not trying to be the "Grammar Police" here but my Goodness!. A graduate of the very college that you are representing as a head coach, and speaking in front of 1000+ reporters and that is the best you can do?
The difference between "good" and "well" is easy. If someone ask you, "How are you doing?" Just remember this, "Missionaries do good." So unless you are explaining the good works you have done, the answer is "I am doing well, thank you."
See Gene it's not that difficult, really!!!
