Title: BR: Alabama Returning Starters Learned from Last Year
Post by: pmull on July 25, 2011, 09:43:01 AM
Alabama was picked to win the SEC by the media last Friday in Birmingham, but the Crimson Tide aren’t going to let outside interference effect them this season.

Alabama was represented by the three men who landed on the preseason All-SEC team in junior running back Trent Richardson, junior linebacker Dont’a Hightower and senior safety Mark Barron. All three guys had the same mindset: not to buy into the preseason hype and that what happened against Auburn in the Iron Bowl a year ago will never happen again.

“I feel like maybe last year guys looked too far into it, maybe got a big head,” Hightower said. “This year it’s not about that. Guys are trying to stay out of the media and All-SEC’s and All-American and all that.”

While Hightower said the Tide wasn’t paying attention to preseason hype, Alabama did lead the conference in players  on the All-SEC team with 16. Alabama head coach Nick Saban believes how the Crimson Tide can handle the mental aspect of the season will have tremendous effect on the result of the season.

You kinda have to feel sorry for these writers--finding something new.

They are still regrugitating SEC Media Days. I am ready for practice to start and the sportwriters can all write the same column about CNS after practice press conference. Ten writers write the same thing because CNS will not let them watch but the first 10 minutes. At least we get Toxik's first hand report here.

You have to get a kick out of 'em. All the brilliant insight they manage to read into watching warm up drills. LOL

Yes they should never forget: Alabama 24 Auburn 0  and then Alabama 27 and Auburn 28! What a pitiful night. RTR!

I'm glad players have a bad taste and bad memories from last year's Iron Bowl and I hope it lasts for years to come.  Incoming freshmen should be required to watch a tape of that entire game; maybe even have a discussion about it after watching it.
