Kiel said getting to chance to join his brother Dusty at Indiana was his biggest reason in joining the Hoosiers.

I wonder if the J.Winston rumor coming out that he would commit to Bama had any bearing on this decision? I do think JW would be the better QB in the long run but that’s irrelevant if he never gets on campus.

I wonder how this will affect Green-Beckman? If he did want to follow Gunner, will he follow him into oblivion (Indiana)?

He was quoted as saying he would not go to a school that planned to sign two QB's. If he is afraid of competition Indiana is a good place for him.

This is a big loss for Bama. Winston may commit to Bama but all that will be for naught due to baseball. Good luck to Gunner and if his reason for commiting to IU is his brother, I can understand and respect him for that.

Winston is announcing next week. I have not heard of a rumor about where he's going.

I didn't know Gunner had a brother at Indiana. Seems only natural he goes there.

Rumor is Winston will commit to Alabama. The concern is he is an outstanding MLB baseball prospect, possibly even first round. It will be hard to turn down MLB if enough money is offered.

I saw Winston play last year with Hueytown against Shades Valley.
He is a true talent.

What will Winston bring to Alabama? He is a great baseball player is he going to want to play 2 sports here and would CNS allow him to do that? The reason is he would miss spring training and have to do catch up in the August camp. RTR!

No, Preacher, I think Winston simply has to decide what he wants to do with his life.  He has 2 great opportunities and he must decide between them.

Has anyone turned down first round money for MLB? No way. If that is the case he should go pro as a MLB player and play for 20 years. I would hate for his heart be in baseball and have an injury playing football. Never want to see that happen with any kid.

you guys want a pic leaked by a student of Gunner and Coach Mac here ya go - http://twitpic.com/5bxlsw

It looks like he was on campus talking to the coaches that day.  He was probably all excited about the idea of coming to Bama that day, but in the end he decided to stay close to his brother.

No telling where the next dark horse comes from and wins the BCS. I bet it is not Indiana or a another Big Ten school.

Everybody will miss one occasionally.  I'm sure it was accurate at the time it was posted.  Gunner could have changed his mind later once all the JW stuff kept dragging on.

How about the first half of the sentence you quoted:  We have a special visitor on campus today and it is a top secret visit by Gunner.

I certainly had no idea that he was visiting until Tox told us about it.

Also there is a an article on Tide Sports about how close he came to picking Bama and what a tough decision it was.  It is on the pay site so I can't read it though.

Quote
How hard was Kiel's decision?

Top QB Gunner Kiel chose IU today, but TideSports caught up with the family to find out how hard it was to tell Alabama no.

Maybe some one with access can read it and give us a synopsis.

Tox has provided us with good, solid information. When it comes to recruiting kids change their mind. Tox provided the best information available at the time he made the statement. The kid made a trip to Hossierville and liked it along with pressure from his brother and the family and decided to go there. I can't name one source that is 100% correct all the time. Tox's reports are "must read material" for Bama fans in my opionion.

Do you have a link?  I did a google search but only found our site and Woolly Al.  Tox posted it on our site about an hour before they had it.  So they either got it from here, or both of them got it from a 3rd site.  The poster at WA said they got it from another board but did not say which one it was.

Thanks.  I didn't see that one.  The page google found was where someone posted it again around 2 pm.  I'm not sure where that guy got it from, since he said he saw it on another board and not woolly.  I guess there is still another site out their somewhere that has the original post.

Here is the link to the one I found with google:  http://www.woollyal.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5799&start=25

These guys change commits like teenage girls change outfits. If they wake up one morning and decide they are bored, they may reopen their recruiting channels with a decommit. Sad but true.

Football players sign in Feb. and the MLB draft is not until June. Gunner will not know what Winston is going to do on signing day.
