Title: 2015 Softball Season Preview Part One: Pitchers
Post by: Jamos on January 20, 2015, 07:46:20 PM
While the loss of four time All-American Jaclyn Traina gives Alabama some big shoes to fill in the circle, the Crimson Tide returns a pair of qualified pitchers in senior Leslie Jury and sophomore Sydney Littlejohn while also welcoming freshman Alexis Osorio into the mix. The contrasting styles between the three, says Head Coach Patrick Murphy, will give the staff a tough dynamic for opponents to prepare for.

I am really looking forward to this season especially now that the SEC network is up and running.  Hopefully our girls will be on TV more than in the past few seasons.

Jamos,  In your opinion, with the two returning pitchers and the quality pitcher coming in do you think Coach Murphy will use them about the same or do you think Jury might be more of a "feature" pitcher since she is a senior?

NALT, I can't remember the link, but I saw last week where Bama softball will have 12 games televised on SECN and ESPNU involving games with Ga., Fla., Ky., No. Car., Aub., Tenn., and Ark. I made a list for my future reference. Sorry about no link.

Update: found the link

That's a good question. Jury does throw the ball harder than Osorio and Littlejohn but she lacks the courage and desire to be a good pitcher. There are times when she has a good game but she isn't very consistent with that and personally I think she will be a mid week game pitcher and hopefully work her way into becoming a good reliever. CPM historically  hasn't put a freshman pitcher under too much fire and has always used them in the mid week games but I'm thinking Osorio will change his mind on that this year. I saw some of the players at a basketball game recently and I wasn't surprised to see who was hanging with each other, McCleney, Littlejohn, Spencer, Osorio, Richard, and Hayes. I asked Osorio how she liked Tuscaloosa and she just went on and on about how much she liked the campus and team. I hope Jury can develop into being that good reliever, this team could go a long way this year.
