Alabama in line for 5th straight recruiting title, but Nick Saban's no fan of rankings

Quote
But, for a second straight year, Alabama enters signing day atop all three rankings based on the known commitments. 247Sports says Alabama has six 5-stars, Scout has that number at five and Rivals says four. Of Scout's top 100 players, 10 are committed to Alabama.

The group includes the nation's No. 2 quarterback (Blake Barnett), No. 1 receiver (Calvin Ridley) and No. 2 safety (Deionte Thompson).

Saban's had similar success at LSU, but not quite to the current level. He didn't have a class ranked lower than third in his last two years in Baton Rouge. The 2003 class was ranked first nationally by Rivals ― his only No. 1 class at LSU.

But Saban isn't big on these rankings.

"I say this every year, but recruiting is not an exact science," he said on signing day 2012. "No one knows for sure how these players are going to develop in the future."

Best news is we're loaded with talent already, have several of these top recruits already enrolled, and almost all of the commitments are solid.  How solid?  I'll be very happy when/if 5-star CB Kendall Sheffield signs.  A&M is after him, and rumors are flying.

Otherwise, enjoy!

I'm hearing that CeCe Jefferson is a very good possibility of being Bama bound.

Adding him would be huge.
I read that he'd made his decision, but nothing about his choice (which may change twice more before tomorrow!).

Not getting my hopes up!

Same here, but fingers crossed, anyway.  :popcorn2:

Does anyone know how many of this year's recruits have already enrolled at Bama?  Also, how many kids is Coach Saban planning on signing this year?

Thanks and I'll hang up and listen...

7 enrolled.  All are listed here: http://alabama.247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/Commits

Those in the know say Bama will sign 27.

I thought we had room for 28 every year? Is this incorrect? Thanks. RTR!

The total is 85.  There's lots of give and take otherwise.

More precisely, take (away from the lazy/sorry) and give (to those we hope will work hard and be productive).
