Rumor has it that Blake Barnett is going after Jefferson to sign with Bama.

If he doesn't make it in the NFL, they need to put him on the staff.

All of this reminds me of the Cam Newton signing, he went to the highest bidder. Daddy seems to be playing the same role as Newton's. ;)

Thursday afternoon, the suddenly outspoken father of CeCe Jefferson has told Rivals national director Mike Farrell a slew of reasons that his son's National Letter of Intent still hasn't been faxed in to the Gators — and, having gotten enough mileage out of teasing Twitter sufficiently, Rivals has thrown those quotes in a story rather than behind a paywall.

It's actually a wonder more of these opportunist parents don't circusize their kid's signing like this. For all the flap, the most likely result is he sing UF tomorrow after some elder in the family tells the dad to grow up.

It would seem Florida has a new production on its hands: As CeCe Jefferson's Dad Turns continued on Thursday afternoon with Leo Jefferson, CeCe's father, telling The Gainesville Sun's Zach Abolverdi that he won't let his son fax his National Letter of Intent to Florida.

    "No sir, and it’s not going to," he said. "You tell the Gainesville Sun that he isn't going to fax it in. I won't let him."

Abolverdi notes that Jefferson turned 19 last week, but that's immaterial when discussing the National Letter of Intent, which requires an additional signature from a parent or guardian from any signatory under the age of 21.

Jefferson went on to give actual reasoning for not signing his son's NLI.

    "I’m a die-hard Gator fan, but personally, I want CeCe to go somewhere else," Jefferson said. "I wanted to get him away from home. I didn’t want him in Gainesville, to tell you the truth."...

The most unbelievable thing, though, is Leo Jefferson's apparent concern that Jeremy Foley has too much power. That charge — which generally boils down to some variation of "Foley is a bean-counting, micro-managing megalomaniac" — gets thrown around on message boards from time to time, but it was made in the press in a strikingly hostile Sports Illustrated opinion piece by Pete Thamel and Thayer Evans after McElwain's hiring, and has almost certainly become a popular refrain on the recruiting trail since, especially given that one of the coaches doing the most recruiting against the Gators of late, Will Muschamp, knows the inner workings of the Florida athletic department.

UF announced the hiring of Chris Rumph as its defensive line coach Friday. He replaces Terrell Williams, now with the Miami Dolphins.

Jefferson had a positive reaction to the Rumph news.

"Reunited and it feels so good," Jefferson said in a text message to The Sun. "I'm just excited they hired a guy who I have a good relationship with."

Rumph recruited Jefferson to Alabama in 2013 and to Texas this past year.
