Title: ESPN gone too far? College fishing on ESPNU

I'm looking at the Directv channel guide when I find "College fishing on ESPNU" for the super regionals from Montgomery. Are you kidding me?

I've got some eligibility left.  "Put me in, Coach."

They are all wearing sponsor shirts. Isn't that an NCAA violation?

Could be worse. If memory serves, some schools have rodeo teams.

Not really. They have to present their catch.

I was on the team for 2 years.  Here's a pic of me with a bass from Lake Tuscaloosa in 1976.  I have 2 years of eligibility left.  We can win this.

Announcers act surprised that AUM is doing so well in the tourney. HELLO! AUM is in Montgomery! But as is custom with any institution named Auburn, they folded. Ole Miss takes top prize.

Does UA have a team?

Does UA have a team?

Yeah, apparently they didn't do too well. They were mentioned as an afterthought. It would seem that bass fishing runs a distant 2nd to football at the Capstone.

Boy, in my day we were tops.  Here's the one we landed on the 3rd Saturday in October, 1966.  It was hauled out of the Tennessee River, just before the other UA team beat the Vols 11-10.

Suppose they really caught it on that rod and reel?

If they did, they started out weighing 275 lbs. each.
