Kirk Herbstreit: Rising Tide and sinking Tigers

So listen up for his thoughts on the SEC in 2011.

Herbie will have the booger nation on him for this.


"My Auburn fans out there who thought I was the toast of the town aren't going to like me this year," Herbstreit said.-

 "I think this team is really going to struggle. I think if they get to a bowl game, it would be a great year."

Meanwhile, Herbstreit believes Alabama's grown-up defense will return to its 2009 form and help the Crimson Tide win the SEC. But he has questions for Alabama, too.

"Really look to see whether Dont'a Hightower, not just is he healthy, but does he become the dominant force, that alpha like Ro (Rolando McClain) was?" Herbstreit said. "He kind of policed that (2009) team. Whether Dont'a can be that kind of guy is something that I'm anxious to see."

Because Alabama asks its quarterback not to lose games, Herbstreit isn't as caught up in who wins the job as the public may be.

Surely the Boogers will win at least 7 games.  They have some talent, and they play 7 home games.  They should have enough carry-over momentum to upset at least one good team, despite their tough schedule.

Yep, the NCAA is going to send them to the toilet bowl.  At least they already have the toilet paper museum.

Hey it is my belief that herbstriet does not like Alabama and he is trying to get inside our heads. We don't need to let him do that, he is trying to hype us so we start feeling cocky right from the start and get those upsets this year. What we need to do is remember Auburn last year and not listen to Herbstriet until after the NCG. RTR!

Herbie picked Auburn to win the SEC last year, going against all the other experts.  I think he had watched some summer practices.  This year I agree with him, the Barn will be lucky to be bowl eligible.  They could lose 2 of their first 3 games, and then it really will start getting ugly for them.

One of those home games is the Tide, so if they win every other home game it puts them at 6-1 at home. NO (SOUP) BOWL FOR YOU!!!

Herbie is a pretty solid and unbiased analyst when it comes to football outside OSU, his alma mater.  He's always been more pro-Alabama if anything though.  As for this article, I think he's simply giving his honest opinion, which this year is in line with the mainstream.

Heck, give the guy credit. He stood his ground last year when most everybody (including me) was laughing at him for giving props to the boogs and he was right. Hopefully he goes two for two (but in our favor this year  :D)
