Title: THE MASTERS

Certainly 2, Jamos, and I are interested in golf.  Hopefully everybody can enjoy the tournament this year.

Just for jollies, pick your winner.  E-cred for the correct prediction.

I'm hoping for Bubba.  Love it when he melts down after he wins.

I voted on Bubba and then saw you had already picked him. Oh well, great minds! Augusta is taylor-made for Bubba. He has to be the favorite.

I'm okay with both of us cheering on Bubba.  Our support will bring tears to his eyes!   :lol2:

Rory is 11-2; Bubba 10:1...

I picked Dustin Johnson based on a guy here at work that thinks he will likely win.  I personally don't care anything about golfball but hey, for a bunch of ecreds just for picking the winner...  #+

Dustin has demons, but is a good golfer. Can't count him out.

Jason Day is my pick.

I want Jordan Spieth to win among the young guys. I would like to see Phil or Freddy but I doubt that will happen.

Will Tiger make the cut?

Yeah, Tiger is a long shot to make the cut.

Maybe I should have included Phil in the favorites above!!

Ricky, I am in the same boat.  My 1st back surgery was in 82. In 93 after years of working with the pain I tried golf and it liked to have put me in the hospital. I love it , but, just can't do it!

We all seem to have the same back.  I've been working to strengthen mine, so maybe I can try to play again this summer.

Here's the update.  Tiger got a bogey at #1, the birdie at #2:

You're hopeless.
While you're over there in Asia, buy a set of Taylor Made golf clubs for $100.  Give them a try.  Even if you hate golf after that, you can sell them back here for $450.

I'm one of the two who picked Spieth and you can see why.  The guy has been putting very well all season, has a strong short game and is usually OK off the tee.  You can't win the Masters if you cannot put well.

Spieth also has been in 3 or 4 sudden death playoffs this season so he's dealt with pressure.  Of course nothing is like the pressure of the back nine on Sunday at Augusta.

I too hope Tiger makes the cut and does OK.  OK = probably from two over to two under.  If he can get back to playing competitive golf it will be good for the game.

Didn't get to watch any of the action today, but Spieth is one of the great young guns along with Rory. He will do well. Glad to see Phil in contention and I hope Tiger at least makes the cut. If Day is healthy, look out for him, too. Watch for Bubba to surge either tomorrow or Saturday.

Not a fan of Dustin Johnson, but he also has game.

The only problem with your plan is that the fake stuff here is very cheaply made and obviously fake, and the real things are 2-3 times the U.S. price.

Like the baby carrier I want that's $55 on Amazon and $180 in the mall here.

Hmmm.  60-Minutes did a story about the Taylor Made ripoffs, said they bought a set a couple of blocks from the US Embassy in Beijing, then tested them.  They were very quality, albeit fakes.  Said lots of folks were buying them for resale.  Guess quality varies widely.

Well, I tried.  BTW, what's a baby carrier?  Nanny?

Friday's weather looks promising for Augusta (if you can believe the forecast):

If this holds, everyone should be able to finish.  But the later guys will deal with gusty winds.

Hmm mm. .. the fake stuff I bought in Beijing, mostly phones and clothes, was very poor quality. I never thought about buying golf clubs because I'm not a golfer.

Another encouraging day for Tiger.  He could have easily been another 2 under.  With a good day on Sunday he'll have a top 5 finish.  A major step forward after all his troubles.

But the man of the day is still Speith.  I hope he goes 3 - 4 under on his round on Sunday.  It would really be sad at this point if he collapsed and didn't win.

Indeed, and it could be career crushing.  Lots of pressure on Mr. Spieth, especially now that it's Rose and Mickelson pushing him instead of Hoffman.

Could be a crazy finish today (Sunday).

It looks like it will be a mad scramble for second place unless Spieth shoots par or higher. If he stays aggressive I think he wins with ease. If his nerves get to him and he starts playing conservative the back 9 will be a shoot out.

I want to see Spieth and Phil finish 1-2. It does not matter who wins.

Good to see Tiger playing well. The golf channel guys have been saying for several weeks if he did not play well and make the cut he may never play well again. Tiger is not just playing well he is in contention. Tiger playing well is fun to watch and good for the game.

I agree that 'Tiger playing well' is good for the game, and he is established this week among the top players.  He's tied for 5th.  BUT, he's not a competitor for The Masters now.  He's far behind.  "In contention", YES; contending for a title, NO.

 :popcorn2:

If you are in the Top 10 you are in contention IMO. Spieth is just running away from the field. As Tiger said after his round yesterday he is far back but there are not many players ahead of him.

I'm settling in for the start of Sunday-at-The-Masters.  Got the water, got the snacks, and now await the TV and computer coverage.

What's with this CONTROLLING crap that The Masters insists on having?  Why would it hurt them to have all-day Sunday coverage??

Bit of wind today, so nobody is moving up the leaderboard much yet.

Tiger and Rory tee off together in 5 minutes.  Hopefully the wind will blast later so the scores will be less predictable.

After just a couple of holes, it looks bleak for those chasing.  So far, Phil looks unsettled.  Tiger went all out for the eagle, and ended up with a par.  Rose looks very good (for him), but he has a way of fading on Sundays.

This could be a wild day, maybe crazy wild if Spieth catches an emotional ride on the momentum train and runs away.  Wow.

Hoffman with a poor putting effort.

King Spieth has a 4-stroke lead now with 3 to play.

"DON'T THINK ABOUT IT.  DON'T THINK ABOUT IT!"

King Spieth looks over the backstop of this green (remember Tiger's crazy chip here?), and sends a mighty shot (from a 7 iron) into the air.  It bounced beyond where he wanted, and rolled off the back.  Oh well!

Spieth sinks the testy par at 16, and keeps the 4-shot lead.

17th (par 4):

King Spieth with a nice, long drive.  It's just off the fairway, and no problem from there.

He starts his strut, and the crowd is going nuts in applause.  Some redneck keeps yelling, "Hook 'em horns."  Sigh!

King's 2nd shot is on the green, below the hole, and set up for a birdie.  Can you say, "20 under"?

17th

King Spieth eyes the putt............. squats, then walks up, looks twice, then.....

misses by an inch.  He can tap in from 3 inches.

Tiger injury update:

After play, Tiger said a bone popped out of joint during the injury, and he popped it back in.

WHAT A MAN!  He'll get a sympathy .... smooch  for that one from his girlfriend, LV.

Crappy tee shot by King Spieth.  No worries, mate.

King Spieth is in a ravine, 400' deep, but he'll manage to whack it up onto the green.   :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Actually, he hits it up to just short of the green, and set up for a chip to finish.

Now he's taking the cheers as he walks up the 18th...

Very impressive win. He's 21 and has an unlimited future. Hopefully, no injuries, alcohol, or drugs will sidetrack him. I think his family will keep him grounded, despite the constantly prying & invasive media. He has a great looking family with his mother, father, brother, & grandfather around him.

Actually, I picked Bubba.

But once I saw Spieth play 3 holes, I knew I was wrong.   :-[

And I'm giving you another e-cred this morning, Preacher.  Good pick, and a memorable Masters tournament.

Ricky -- I'm the other guy who picked Spieth.  The way his short game and putting -- especially his putting -- had been in the past few weeks, I just thought his game was a great fit for Augusta National.

I got the feeling that the page was turning to a new generation on the PGA tour.  I've always been a Tiger fan.  He did well and probably would have done better if he hadn't injured his wrist on the 9th hole.  (He hit a root that seemed to be invisible under pine straw or whatever his ball was sitting on.)  It looked pretty painful when it happened.

But Tiger, Phil, Bubba, Kuchar, even the guys in their late 20's who have been out a few years, will have to be at the top of their games to beat Spieth when he is at the top of his game.  Amazing display of golf!

McB, I gave you an e-cred yesterday, and another this morning.  Congratulations on the pick.

I agree, Spieth is special.  If he keeps his head and behaves, LOOK OUT!
