Title: Official China Life Thread Post by: bamaphil on April 16, 2015, 10:46:56 AM Even though I no longer live in China, I still read with great interest the never-ending stream of utterly absurd stories that come out of the country. I will post stories in this thread in the future. If you come across any, feel free to share.

Quote A jealous boyfriend who 'fattened up' his partner in a ploy to put off any love rivals has popped the question. Attractive Yan Tai weighed just over seven stone when she began dating You Pan in South China's Guangdong Province. But two years on when You asked her to marry him she was almost unrecognizable, according to The People's Daily. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/peoplesdaily/article-3038562/Woman-fattened-jealous-boyfriend-deter-love-rivals-says-yes-marriage-proposal-two-years-binge-eating.html?ito=social-facebook Title: Re: Official China Life Thread Post by: bamaphil on April 16, 2015, 10:52:00 AM Entry #2 (Warning: this one involves a little time commitment, but I think it's worth it.)
Quote About a year later… I’m sitting on my couch with some friends going through my photo stream on my new phone. That’s when I see a ton of pictures I didn’t take, most memorably about 20 selfies of some dude and an orange tree. Hilarious and scary. I obviously freak out, show everyone the pictures, and for an hour we all speculate about what the [censored] is going on with my phone. We come up with a bunch of theories that basically revolve around crossing iCloud photo streams, North Korea hackings, and hauntings. My phone is possessed. http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/i-followed-my-stolen-iphone-across-the-world-became-a-celebr#.wqmOeA6Xa Title: Re: Official China Life Thread Post by: 2Stater on April 16, 2015, 03:18:50 PM Congrats, Phil, for surviving in such a bizarre country. :lol2:

And this one dish on the street.... It'l like a rich, heavy yellow cake folded in half with shredded cheese, chocolate sprinkles, and sweetened, condensed milk in the middle. Every piece probably increases artery blockage by a couple of percentage points, but man is it good.
