Title: Saban Wants Tide to Return to Mindset of 2011/2012

Interesting comments by Coach Saban.

Quote
Saban, speaking at a charity event for Team Focus in Mobile, told a large crowd at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center that for each of the last two seasons, the Crimson Tide has seen its national title hopes end by failing to mirror the disposition of Alabama's 2011 and 2012 teams, which were worried less about the scoreboard than about imposing their will on the opponent.

Nick Saban said he could feel... his Alabama team, with a two-touchdown lead on Ohio State in the second quarter of a College Football Playoff semifinal, take a breath and relax a bit.

Saban ... told a large crowd at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center that for each of the last two seasons, the Crimson Tide has seen its national title hopes end by failing to mirror the disposition of Alabama's 2011 and 2012 teams, which were worried less about the scoreboard than about imposing their will on the opponent.

This year, he said after the event, the Crimson Tide is trying to get back to that mindset.

"I think it's just a matter of what kind of competitor that you are and not focusing on the result, but staying focused on the process of what you need to do for 60 minutes in the game ... which is kind of what our whole program was built on," Saban said. "But I do think when you have as much success as we've had, it makes it a little bit more difficult to sustain that kind of psychological disposition...

Taking names, kicking butt, and running up the score.

I thought this was a rather significant statement by CNS, i.e. that he could feel the team "letting up" during these big games.  Let's hope he can get that 'keep pounding 'em' mindset restored.

I think it is about time. He needs to get the beat down attitude back but we was in shape and willing to work to win. If we did not have that attitude when we played GA we would not have won the Championship that year. GA would have beaten us bad the last 2 years in my opinion. RTR!

I posted this link at midnight & it was not on the Quad forum at that time. Why duplicate it after I posted it & why not combine my previous thread on this same site. I don't understand why someone repeated what I had already done. Is there a problem?

 ???

Yeah, I figured that when I first read the story on-line but I never go to Wall-E & I posted my thread at midnight since most folks come to the Quad for their Tide info. Someone moved the Wall-E thread & somehow didn't see my thread even though it had to be at the top of the page. Strange. Maybe they didn't like my thread. Thanks for merging them.
