Title: "ESPN reporter Britt McHenry suspended after insulting a clerk"

This little princess should have been fired by ESPN.  She trashes a poor woman who works for a towing company, because they towed her car (with good cause).  It's disgusting:

Quote
On the roughly one-minute long video that was captured by a surveillance camera, McHenry says to an employee at a register: "I'm in the news, sweetheart. I will (expletive) sue this place."

The employee tells McHenry she's being recorded, but it doesn't stop her from continuing her rant.

"That's why I have a college degree and you don't," she says. "I wouldn't work at a scumbag place like this. Makes my skin crawl even being here."

Later McHenry says, "Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh?"

The employee apparently says something about McHenry's hair and the color of her roots.

McHenry sasses back, saying, "Oh, like yours, 'cause they look so stunning, 'cause I'm on television and you're in a (expletive) trailer, honey. Lose some weight, baby girl."

The high and mighty ESPN only suspended her???????? If this had been anybody else, they would be calling for their head.

Ok, I agree that Ms. McHenry was totally out of line there, however, the clerk was as well IMO.  I also doubt Ms. McHenry was "working" for ESPN at that moment so how does ESPN have the right to discipline her for those actions?  I understand that they were probably paying for the hotel she was staying in and all but...that was a not an incident that they have any business in.  If she hates being at that place that badly then she should take that up with whomever books her accomodations before her next assignment.  She didn't and that was her fault. I just don't see where ESPN should suspend her for that.  The clerk on the other hand, should be disciplined IMO...

Agree with you, however, ESPN does not have a track record of thinking things through before they suspend or terminate somebody.

I googled her and I still do not know who she is.  :dunno:

She may not have been "on the clock" for ESPN when this happened but she is still a TV personality and her reputation and character matter. You can not go around being an azz in public then go on TV and be America's sweetheart. This is similar (but not as bad) as the Mike Price fiasco. He was not working for Alabama at the strip club or in his hotel room either but he damaged and embarrassed the University. High profile public jobs normally have some form of an embarrassment clause.

I understand that.  However, even by your own admission you don't know who she is.  I don't either. Apparently she isn't as "high profile" as maybe she would like folks to think?

Whenever a person starts with, "Do you know who I am ..." or (as she said) "I'm on TV and you're in a trailer", THEY HAVE SCREWED UP.  SHE SHOULD BE FIRED.

I would likely agree if she had said, "I work for ESPN..." but in this case she didn't.  Totally different critter IMO...
