Title: NBC Sports: AT LONG LAST, SABAN LIKELY STICKING AROUND Post by: pmull on August 05, 2011, 08:11:58 AM Nick Saban has the Alabama Crimson Tide in a familiar place for the program, as a preseason favorite to win the national championship. But if Saban is going to continue to keep Alabama atop the college football landscape beyond this year, he must venture into a decidedly unfamiliar place.
Amazingly, after nearly four decades in the coaching profession, the nomadic Saban has never spent more than five consecutive years with the same team. Alabama is the 13th stop for Saban since his coaching career began in 1973, including two stints at Michigan State as an assistant and then as the head coach. During his journeys, he left after his fourth season on two occasions and departed after the fifth season three times. Next year would be season No. 6 at Alabama for Saban. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/44010606/ns/sports-college_football/ Title: Re: NBC Sports: AT LONG LAST, SABAN LIKELY STICKING AROUND Post by: 2Stater on August 05, 2011, 08:18:54 AM He loves us. :-*

We can only hope Mrs Terri is TOO happy here and will put her foot down!! I firmly believe CNS an win 2-3 more NC's here....what a legacy that would be! Ask your friend why CNS would want to go to a school on probation with sanctions. Title: Re: NBC Sports: AT LONG LAST, SABAN LIKELY STICKING AROUND Post by: SeniorTSM on August 05, 2011, 09:33:09 AM My position is that, If he leave he leaves, He will have left Bama in a lot better shape than any time in recent history, and Bama is still a top job for younger coaches.
I don't think he would leave unless he wins another NTL Championship. So Bama would have another title and an even better job. ;) Title: Re: NBC Sports: AT LONG LAST, SABAN LIKELY STICKING AROUND Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 05, 2011, 10:10:35 AM Here we go again about Saban moving. No way do I see this happening. First, he firmly stated this is his last rodeo, plus his retirement home is in Georgia. Secondly, I don't see a 60 year old couple in a hurry to go to the cold and snowy north. Thirdly, aren't his kids in the South? Right now, he has everything going his way with facilities, recruiting, fanbase, etc. There is no reason to leave and start over somewhere else.
Title: Re: NBC Sports: AT LONG LAST, SABAN LIKELY STICKING AROUND Post by: Catch Prothro on August 05, 2011, 10:28:14 AM Yeah, this moving speculation is just silliness. Someone like Urban Meyer, who hates getting whipped, might leave for another conference. But Saban appears to relish the competition; it only makes him a better coach.
Besides, this is the quote that says it all: "In fact, if Saban left Alabama for another college team, it wouldn’t be for the money. Tide faithful are not about to let another school outbid them for their championship-winning coach." No kidding.
