Title: Crimson Tide football practice field a land of opportunity
Post by: pmull on August 06, 2011, 07:58:32 AM
Alabama's Got Talent.

But on the first day of auditions - that is, preseason camp - Nick Saban sounded more like a coach who lost four players to the first round of the NFL draft than a coach who had a record 16 players earn preseason All-Southeastern Conference recognition.

"We had probably the best test results around here that we've had in a couple years, based on how many guys passed the test," Saban said Friday following the first practice. "We had the lowest number of guys fail the test I think for three years, so that's encouraging.

"Still, we have to go out on the field and really need to play. There's a lot of opportunities at a lot of positions for players."

I sure would like to know more about "the test" and what all is required of the players. When CNS is talking positive, I'm happy.

I would like to know as well what the test is. Running so far in a limited time?

I don't think he meant anything specific by "the test", I think he meant it in a generic, abstract way.  In other words they showed up ready to go and had a good practice.

At least that is what it seemed like to me after watching the interview where he talked about it.  It kind of takes on a different meaning and is a little out of context when you read the direct quotes from the article.

They have this thing called the 4th Quarter in the off season, I wonder if they are scored on this.

You might be on to something there...
