Turns out he used to be with the Baltimore Sun (covering the Terps) and formerly was the Ravens beat writer for the Carroll County Times in the Baltimore suburbs (which is an excellent small paper, by the way). This guy knows his football; so odd to me to see a guy I followed for my NFL team's coverage now writing about my home town boys!
