Title: Spurrier suggests ESPN gives Alabama preferential treatment
Post by: pmull on August 10, 2011, 01:42:54 PM
First, we deserve the attention. Second, Spurrier is becoming a bitter old ball coach.

Quote
Steve Spurrier said he thinks it isn't fair that Alabama's football program gets preferential treatment from ESPN, according to GoUpstate.com.

The South Carolina coach appeared on the nationally syndicated Dan Patrick Show, where he opined about how he feels the sports network might favor the Crimson Tide over other SEC teams.

He recounted to Patrick a conversation he had with SEC commissioner Mike Slive, where he asked Slive how much Alabama paid ESPN to come to campus and film the preseason camp for the network's "All-Access" show.

He's crying so much in SC that it's flooding in Mobile.

"All Access" is in Oklahoma this summer. I guess Steve thinks they should be in SC.

Steve Sourrier has always been a crybaby.  Maybe it's because of this Tennessee roots. 8)

Let him cry, Bama owes him one anyway and maybe he can supply us with some good some locker room material.

Gee, I can' undestand why ESPN would prefer a team with 36 wins in the last 3 years, Heisman winner, best coach in America and a National Championship over teams like Tennessee and USC which have been winning 7 to 9 games in the last 3 years. It's a mystery to me.

 ???

When Spurrier loses 4 guys in the first round of the NFL draft and still is picked to be in the NCG, then we'll talk.

He and lawzoo stop by occasionally.  They will probably be by here pretty soon before the season starts.

I guess this guy doesn't remember the 90s and how the media treated Florida while he was coach there - I remember comparisons to the Bear at the time and how he was going to break all the records - a true media darling at the time - I'm losing respect for him everyday

I always thought the media attention was why he left UF for USCe. So he could be left alone to play golf and chase tail in private.

I never had much respect for him at all.  Even all the way back at Florida he would get mad and have a hissy fit, then during the post game presser he would throw his players under the bus if they lost.

He left Florida for the NFL for more glory and accolades - it didn't happen , so now we're seeing his response to his lack of being in the limelight - an immature child, in my humble opinion - it's a shame he is still a coach in the sec - but maybe I'm overreacting to a guy I never liked because of his arrogant attitude.
