Title: The British Open (Open Championship)
Post by: 2Stater on July 19, 2015, 01:43:22 PM
What a great day it was for watching these guys play. Dustin Johnson couldn't drain a putt in a black hole, but everyone else pretty much lit it up. Jordan Spieth finished the day one shot off the lead held by Jason Day, Louis Oosthuizen, and Irish amateur, Paul Dunne, who played college golf at UAB. His college coach was on the bag for him.

I think it will come down to Spieth, Day or Oosty. Spieth is pretty good about smelling blood and finishing, but Day has the talent to finish, as well, when he's not battling his vertigo. Oosty may have the best chance, because he's won there before.

At any rate, tomorrow should be a heck of a day, as there are 14 players at -9 or better.

Anybody else think that Oosty looks like Clark Gable?

I hate that Dustin Johnson fell off so badly.  He's fought back from a dark period in his life and was really swinging well.

Spieth let this one slip away from him, but he is still prolly the best in the game right now.

Will this be lasting all week? Our cable has been off since last Wednesday and I haven't gotten to watch it? RTR!

Zack Johnson is your winner. He won the 4 hole playoff over 2 others who all finished at -15.

Spieth finished at -14 to finish 4th one stroke back. He has a bogey on the tough 17th but failed again today to birdie the easy 18th to miss the playoff.

Zack Johnson is a deserving winner. Overall, he played better than the rest. Kudos to him for outlasting the field on a day when a lot of people played well.

My brother-in-law and nephew just got back from a week in Europe, including spending Thursday and Friday at St. Andrews.  I haven't gotten to talk to them since they got back, but I thought that was a heck of a graduation gift!
