Title: Why isn't Auburn RB Dyer practicing?
Post by: Jamos on August 15, 2011, 09:19:46 AM
Can't figure this one out. If Bama has a high profile player to miss practice for whatever reason then it's headline news in some newspapers and all of the reasons (gloom and doom) why this player isn't practicing.

Michael Dyer isn't practicing at Auburn. He's their pride and joy, Mr Everything, but there hasn't been any reports as to why he isn't practicing. I find this very strange because the Barn is depending heavily on him this year.

Is he hurt, grade problems, or is he in some kind of trouble? Maybe Scarbinsky can fill us in on this or is he still in T-town trying to buy him one of those chep suits at T-Town Menswear.

Rumors vary from 'his hamstring' to 'he's involved in the 4-player robbery'.  Probably hamstring; but could be he was holding the gun that was missing. :o

If this were at Bama it would be a National News headline and especially the Bham News. Where's the Scarbinsky with all of his high profile reporting with a story this big?   ???

He is not going to practice until he gets paid.

Hmmm.... wasn't he and Dakota Mosely a package deal from the same school?  I suppose the robbery involvement could be plausible.  You would think if it was an injury or something respectable they wouldn't keep it a secret.  It will all come out eventually I guess.

I just find it a little interesting that the best running back they have isn't making the news because he isn't practicing and Auburn isn't saying a word about his absence and how long he's expected to be out.  Maybe he does have a bad hammy or something.  ???

I have no idea why he is out, but it seems like if it were an injury they would just say so and end all the speculation.  What do they gain by keeping it secret?  He won't heal any faster.

On the other hand, if it is something else, keeping it secret could give them time to sweep it under the rug.  It seems like they are stalling for time or something.

Has anyone asked them about him at a presser?  Maybe it is common knowledge and a non-issue amongst the boogs so nobody has to ask.

Lots of rumors going around that the gun used in the 4 man robbery was registered to Dyer. I don't have a credible source, only message board rumors at this point.

Since Dyer is 20 years old, no way he has a legal handgun and it wouldn't be registered to him.

While this maybe very true, it would not effect (or is that affect) him practicing. We have allowed players to practice while being investigated / suspended by the NCAA. Marcel is one, and Hanks is another.

He has not been practicing to get injured. Chizik said last week he was held out of the scrimmage because he is "beat up" and needs rest. I think that is BS. Something fishy is going on in the barn camp.

I was listening to Jay Barker and Del Greco this morning and a caller challenged Del Greco as to why Dyer wasn't practicing. Del Greco would not make a statement as to why he wasn't practicing and he said Cheezit had every right to not discuss certain matters. Jay then asked the caller what he thought the problem may be and he said he wanted to know more about an air pistol that Dyer owned. Jay or Del Greco didn't say much about that.

Del Greco didn't really want to talk about Dyer other than just to say it must be something that Cheezit didn't want to discuss. Usually Del Greco is nothing but a "know it all loudmouth" about any of the Barn issues.

I have read on other measage boards that the gun belonged to Dyer but was registered in his 24 year old girlfriends name. Now an air pistol. The report below said Dyer was a witness and a gun and air gun were recovered during the arrest.

Very interesting. It is about time for the trees are dying report.

Wide receiver DeAngelo Benton, defensive back Neiko Thorpe and running backs Michael Dyer and Anthony Morgan were among the witnesses requested by the Lee County District Attorney’s Office.

According to Auburn police, one handgun, an air gun and the stolen property, including victims' cellphones and the safe, were recovered during the arrest.

Chizik had this to say about Dyer after practice today:

Quote
Coach Gene Chizik said running back Mike Dyer "is getting better" from his undisclosed injury.

"He's beat up and banged up," he said.

Dyer was on the sidelines during the scrimmage.

Chizik said "I don't have any reason to doubt" that he'll be ready for the opener.

I think he practiced like 2 or 3 times and he's "banged up?' I think he may really be 'fracked up' if he's in any way nvolved in that robbery or other misdeeds.

The barn beat writers are awful. I don't read the barn arcticles that often but I have been trying to find out why Dyer is not practicing. The barn beat writers are like puppets writing whatever they are told to report. We are getting daily reports from the Bama practices about the bandage on Hightowers hand and how Eddie Lacy's arm is protected. Even a hurt player does not just stand on the sideline. I agree with the earlier posts, I call BS on missing practice because he is "banged up".

I have to admit that I have not listened to PF in years, but I am on-line listening to the dumbest bunch of barner fans I've ever heard on a radio program show just how stupid they are. I swear I thought I was listening to a Hee-Haw parody. Junior samples is a rocket scientist compared to these idiots. I've seen y'all reference "Tammy". Well I just had the pleasure of listening to that mentally retarded geranium seed.

Some other idiot said "The U of A has no idea what college football is all about". I guess that friggin maroon doesn't have a clue that the U of A IS college football.

And then there was the guy a few minutes ago said he would be glad for "Texas" to come to the SEC, insinuating that Auburn would give them another "butt whoopin". PF had to remind him that it was A & M, not Texas, that may come to the SEC and I don't recall the barn having played them lately.

Is his show like that all the time? I'd rather go for a prostate exam while my teeth are being pulled out by rusty pliers than listen to those idiots.

I don't listen to it that often, only when there is a really big story breaking.  But the times I did listen to it, your assessment is pretty accurate.  It would be a decent show if they got rid of the call in portion and only had the guests talking to PF.  But they have to fill time I guess.  I can't stand to listen to it for more than a few minutes and then I have to turn it off.  Lately I just hit refresh on his twitter page to look for the breaking news tidbits.

During the season he has Herbstreit, Coach Stallings, Jim Donnan, Bill Oliver and others. PF is very well connected.
