Title: "Suitgate" Put to Rest
Post by: Jamos on August 18, 2011, 10:52:38 AM
Columnist Larry Burton has written an article that pretty much sums up the "suitgate" issue that so many Bama rivals wanted to make such a big to-do about. Having been in the clothinbg business at one time, he explains how he and his business treated their customers and how it caused the big stir.

No offense to Larry Burton and his expertise, but if you're giving UNADVERTISED special to athletes (which he alluded to himself doing), then I doubt the NCAA would look too kindly on that.  It's not the same as the Joseph A Bank ad, no matter how he wants to put it.

I'm confident that in the University's compliance investigation, but this article does not make me feel better.

Giving a regular customer who spends a lot there a discount for loyalty and giving an athlete who buys one suit a year a discount are two totally different things, because I don't think Burton or Albetar either would give me a discount for buying one suit a year from them.

Another CRS poster mentioned they were tried of seeing the word "gate" added to everything. I have to agree.

If starting Gategate stops writers from adding it to their storyline, I'm for it. Somebody copywrite that word gate.

Actually I completely agree.
