Last year, we beat the dickens out of each other and the toll was taken in the bowl games. I agree. Also, though I would never offer this as an excuse for having lost, for the most part the bowl games are really just glorified practice games unless your team makes it to the playoffs. That's a bad year for the SEC.
While the press loves to latch onto that, it is a better winning percentage than most other conferences. The Big10 had a great year, according to the press, by going 5-5. After all the Big12 hype, turns out they went 2-5 in bowl games. The ACC was 4-7. In fact, the only Power 5 conference with a better bowl record than the SEC was the PAC12 last year. So this is all a press fabrication. Haters are going to hate. But reality, and the SEC, are going to bite them in the butt sooner or later. |
