Title: Rutgers Football Coach Suspended Over Grade Changing
Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 16, 2015, 08:15:22 PM
Good to see this. Read the entire article. Rutgers football is spinning out-of-control. Unbelieveable.

Quote
Kyle Flood, the head football coach at Rutgers, told school officials investigating allegations that he tried to get a player’s grade changed that he was unaware of rules prohibiting him from contacting academic advisers in such a way, nor, he said, had he attended any of the compliance training that would have made him aware of those rules. The president of Rutgers, taking a dim view of Flood’s words and deeds, suspended the coach for team’s next three games and fined him $50,000.

The suspension is the latest development in a troubling series for the Rutgers football program. From a report by NJ.com:

Six players have been kicked off the team in the past two weeks as the result of arrests. Two players, cornerback Dre Boggs and fullback Lloyd Terry, have been charged in home invasions. The other four players — Barnwell, cornerback Ruhann Peele, safety Delon Stephenson and fullback Razohnn Gross — face assault charges.

On Sunday, Flood suspended star wide receiver Leonte Carroo indefinitely as a result of an incident that took place following Saturday night’s loss to Washington State outside the team’s football headquarters. Carroo was arrested by Rutgers University police and charged with simple assault in a domestic violence incident...

Seems like a pretty serious charge for only a 4 game suspension.

I doubt it's over.

This isn't an isolated case.  Pretty sure anyone who is a college professor has seen it.

Rutgers better win 9-10 games or the coach may be gone. The school President doesn't believe him & that is the kiss of death. The football coach doesn't know he can't influence professors to change grades? Give me a break.

Sounds vaguely familiar. I think I had one about a year ago.  :lol2:

In all seriousness, I thought it to be a pretty big deal for a coach to ask a professor to change a player's grade.

Smart coaches don't do it directly.  This guy is an idiot!

Every year I keep saying that there's a school down in Lee County, Alabama that is going to get busted, just like Rutgers, but so far they've managed to skate free. Oh by the way it isn't Auburn High School either. Just maybe one of these days somebody will figure out their classroom scheme. Right now there is a basketball player down there by the name of Purifoy from Centerville, Ala and there is no way that dude can be eligible without some shady help. I don't think he has been cleared yet but I'm betting he'll be eligible some how or some way. There have been many investigations into their program but somehow they always get out of it.

Maybe someone needs to look into investigating the investigators...  :dunno:

Right.  At Auburn, it's the boosters working with the administrators I think.
