Title: A "Just For Fun" Question....
Post by: rueben on August 20, 2011, 08:51:57 PM
How many points would Bama have to score to beat any opposing team this year?

I am thinking maybe 24 -25. ( and that would be LSU.)

I just don't see our "D" allowing more than 21 points by anyone this year. LSU being the toughest and Fla being a complete unknown.

"And you?"

Interesting.  Good thoughts.

With the exception of the 1961 team, it seems that every great D we've had slipped up occasionally.  It's very difficult these days for the D to shut down an opponent.

Arky will have some tricky plays and might get a few scores on such.  Barring injuries, we should be able to keep everyone under 25.  Our problem may be scoring more than that, unless the D sets us up regularly.  Remember that during 2009 we often had trouble establishing the O until a turnover or big return by #28.

I kid. The only team I think that will play us that tough defensively is LSU. I think our offense is going to do very well, barring injuries. Yeah, we'll slip up occasionally on defense, but as hungry as those guys are, I feel it will be rare. Arky will test us offensively. I think we need 24-28 to beat them.
