Title: Playoff Rankings, Bowl Games and Times Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 11:33:56 AM 1. Clemson
2. Bama 3. Michigan State 4. Oklahoma Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 11:35:04 AM Great Matchup for Bama in Dallas. #+
Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 11:40:06 AM Quick oddsmakers have Bama as a 9 point favorite over Michigan State.
Oklahoma is a 2.5 point favorite over Clemson. Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 11:48:09 AM ESPN had cameras at three of the schools, watching the player's reaction to the announcement. (Bama players slept in, so there was Kaylee Hartong all alone.) :lol2:
When they announced Clemson as #1, there was an eruption of applause. Crickets with Bama as #2. A very small smattering of applause with Michigan State as No. 3. Maybe 2 or 3 players. Same with OK at #4. I suspect OK wanted Bama instead of Clemson, as they beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl, and got clobbered by Clemson in their bowl game last year. The opposite with Michigan State, which no doubt hasn't forgotten how Bama embarrassed them, and probably wanted Clemson. Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Jamos on December 06, 2015, 12:08:18 PM Bama and Michigan State is a good matchup, very similar styles of play.
Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 12:17:16 PM Bama and Michigan State is a good matchup, very similar styles of play. ESPN guys said it was a good matchup for Bama, as Michigan State's style, ground attack, grind it out, patience, plays to Bama's strengths.Joey Galloway said it was the matchup Michigan State should want also. They play mostly against power rushing teams, in the trenches, so they won't have to change what they do defensively to play Bama. It's not like they're playing a HUNH team or something else that they haven't faced. Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: Catch Prothro on December 06, 2015, 12:19:38 PM Remaining top 25 to be released 2 pm CST. Not relevant for Bama, but important for Bowl matchups.
For example, who goes to the Rose Bowl, Iowa or Ohio State? Who goes to the Sugar Bowl? Which of the Group of 5 teams gets into a New Years Bowl. (Houston) Title: Re: Playoff Rankings Post by: McBaman on December 06, 2015, 12:21:04 PM To me, this is the best possible outcome for Bama, assuming we can come out of the MSU game with no serious injuries.
Let OK and Clem run each other ragged. We'll be waiting. In both of the next two games we'll be facing the best QBs we've faced all year. DBs gotta step it up for serious passing games. Also, from here on...only one stat matters: The final numbers on the scoreboard. No more style points to worry about. If they want these games to mean something then they need to expand to an 8 team playoff. I don't like the idea of an 8 team playoff. That would bring in: Stanford, Notre Dame and two more Big10 teams, OSU and Iowa. Three of those 4 teams had their chance and lost. And talk about bias toward conferences with only a few good teams. We will be highly ranked going in and will get a cupcake in the first round. Depth would play a big role as well, and nobody has more depth than we do. Also, make these clowns play 3 slobber knockers in a row and see how they hold up.

That's pretty much how I feel, too. There really is no controversy this year on the final 4. |
