Quote August 29, 2011 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — When it came — when this part of Alabama sat still and waited and watched and stared at the dark clouds and felt deep inside that something was very, very wrong — by then, too much had already happened. Of course a tornado is more than a game, and of course the 40-some lives that were gone when hell gave way again to clear skies mean more than any final score ever can, ever will. But still, through good and bad, through success and failure, through loss and through nature's wrath — through whatever may come in the heart of the American South — Alabama is a football state. And by God, what a state Alabama had been in for the 18 months leading up to what was coming |
