Title: SIAP-Jeremy Pruitt
Post by: BamaFanInACCLand on December 11, 2015, 08:26:54 AM
What does everyone think of this pending hire as DC?

I'm hearing he is our 2nd choice and Charles Kelly at FSU is first choice. If Pruitt comes, CNS will need to keep his foot up his azz and his hand over his mouth.

I didn't realize CK was in the mix. I would love to stick to ole Jimbo. I just don't like that guy.

I just find these Pruitt rumors hard to believe, but what do I know.  Pruitt needs a job right now and he'll promise CNS that he'll get in line, but in the long run will he really do so?

Something about Pruitt and Kiff being the two coordinators that doesn't seem to add up.

I totally agree. One thing Pruitt is a good recruiter BUT he has already tried it here 2 times I know and this would be 3 times so what is going to be different? How long will he stay, 3 months, 6 months or what? RTR!

Well, CNS does like to build character.  ;)

Pruitt has been at Bama a couple of times but not as DC.  He has had problems getting along with many of the staff under Richt at UGA too...I think/hope Saban would muzzle him though...

I was just watching College Football Live and ESPN is reporting it to be a done deal. It was also running across the bottom of the screen. SO, if this is true, I wonder how many recruits he will try and turn to Alabama? RTR!

This article just went up on ESPN.com   Nothing new except that they are posting it as a news item.  Don't think they would do that unless they were pretty sure it is accurate.

I guess we gotta trust CNS on this one.  Time will tell.

I trust the "process". Seems Kiffin worked out nicely when many naysayers said he wouldn't.  :popcorn2:

Nice avatar, Merk!

Maybe we'll get Mike Price for special teams coach.

Pruitt does not seem to have trouble finding a job. He did a good job for us before and everyone hated to see him go to FSU at that time. His reputation as a trouble maker serviced after he left Tuscaloosa. I have to believe CNS knows exactly what he is doing and the type coach Pruitt is. From what I have read his trouble at UGA was from being a hard nosed coach on a staff with a soft (Mark Richt) head coach.

I am going to miss Kirby Smart and his squeaky clean reputation running our defensive and looking like a cop directing traffic trying to get our defense in position on each play.

He's worked for Saban before, so coach knows what, and who, he's getting.  I don't think he would be rehired if Saban thought there were any potential problems.

I'll miss Kirby too, but it was inevitable.  I'm glad to see he got his dream job.

I agree that Saban knows exactly what he is getting with Pruitt.  One positive is that Pruitt knows Saban's system and will be able to implement it.  He has past DC experience.  And,  Saban always keeps his thumb on the defense, and he is better at managing his coaches than some of the CEO type coaches.

The reason Pruitt's reputation has been brought into question is because he was working for a staff that coddled players instead of challenging them. This is a great hire for Bama. Defense will continue to be a high priority and will continue to be dominant.
