Yesh, I know that but my thing is that he had over 1000 kick return yards this season.  I don't care who you play against, that is outstanding and deserving IMO...

Maybe Henry will give it back since he doesn't deserve it. ???

The comparison that I read was he avg. 28 yards of return yards so instead of starting on the 25 ....... didn't sound too impressive to me...IMHO :unsure:

Who said Henry doesn't deserve the Heisman?  I just felt that McCaffrey deserved it more based on his all-purpose performance.  All of y'all that feel Henry deserved it outright know full well that had McC had the stats that Henry did and Henry had his that you would be saying that Henry still deserved it more and would likely be pointing to the same stats that I did as the reason... Homers!  ;)

What a pleasure to see a young man who is so humble and thankful to God have his dream come true. Congrats, Derrick Henry, Heisman Trophy winner.

I'm pretty much set against awarding the Heisman to a sophomore.  It mostly is a bad thing for a college kid to win and then come back another year.

I thought both players had impressive resumes, and in any other year McC would probably win it for breaking Barry Sanders' record.  But Henry is simply a better RB than McC, with a higher ypc, higher yac, and 10 more TDs, all the while playing in a league where the defenses are designed to stop the run first.  Having a better resume than Bo Jackson and Hershel Walker doesn't hurt either.  Apparently Henry is a good receiver as well, but Bama doesn't use him that way as mostly he is a decoy on the play action, with Bama's talented WRs able to carry the receiving load.  And no one wants to see Henry return kicks and risk getting hurt, unless it comes down to the wire in a championship game.  The Heisman is about more than stats, and I think Henry exemplifies everything that statue is supposed to recognize.  It's an old award, and Henry plays old school football like no other.

BTW, AJ came in and took over for Dalton, who got injured. He played pretty well. His first completion was to AJ Green, which was ironic on a couple of levels. His second completion was a bomb and TD to AJ Green.

His only hiccup was a pick 6. He came in with them behind, and his defense didn't help him at all. I was impressed with him, being thrown to the lion's den like that. I look for him to have a better week next week. Looks like Dalton is out several weeks with a broken thumb.

Could it be another star is born?  ;)

What an honor for such a great, hard working young man. As part of Bama Nation, I am so proud of what Derrick has accomplished. I had tears in my eyes watching his family go crazy after his name was announced, and his grandmother watching from her hospital bed. Congrats King Henry!!

I can agree with this especially.  I guess after Johnny Manziel and J. Winston getting the Heisman giving it to Henry tends to turn the integrity back toward where it should be, huh?

The other thing mentioned is defenses faced.  One of the ESPN guys, maybe Dez Howard, said after seeing McC against Northwestern he wasn't impressed.  McC had 66 rushing yard in that game, 94 v. Notre Dame.  Those might have been the toughest defenses Stanford faced.  Not too impressive considering Henry's rushing against tougher defenses.
