Title: How lucky are we?
Post by: 2Stater on January 12, 2016, 04:29:45 PM
To be living the dream of seeing multiple National Championships?
For having the 2 greatest football coaches ever in college football, 33 of the last 58 years?
For dominating the barn over the years?

Is this great or what?

I'm so proud of the team last night and I think that Saban may have done his finest coaching job. Who in the world expected that onside kick outside of the football team; No one! And boy, did it ever swing big Mo back to us!

Clemson owned both lines of scrimmage, but our special teams and flawless execution on the big plays, were the difference in the game. How about OJ and The Drake?!!! I was so glad to see those guys finally get their dues last night.

Coker finished his career undefeated as a starter. Watson deserves all the accolades thrown at him, but he is not the one who went undefeated or who, today, is a National Champion. But my hat is off to him and the Clemson team for their outstanding play. They really took it to us.

Our defense could not contain Watson and that created some long drives for them, which wore the defense down. They were gassed in the 2nd quarter. But nobody gave up, NOBODY!

We took it to them in the 4th quarter, making big play after big play. This team was not to be denied, and it showed.

Congratulations to 16 time National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide! I've been fortunate enough to witness the last 11 and can't wait to see more!

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

Good summary, 2.

Eleven NCs in 54 years averages one every five seasons for half a century.  No team can beat that.

Who'd have thought our defense would give up 40 points?  They might have been tired in the 4th quarter, but Clemson in the past five years was 50-0 when leading into the 4th.

Thanks OT. Yep, they brought that up last night. Fortunately, all streaks eventually come to an end.

I just added a sentence about winning a NC every five years for half a century.

Excellent, well said post, 2.  I remember how great it was when we won NCs in '61, '64 and '65.  That was 3 of 5; now we got 4 of 7 and it feels like the early '60s all over again.

How do we thank the coaches and players for all the happiness they have given us fans??

(Addendum...  I read or heard today that since Bama was #1 in the final AP poll, it means that for 8 straight years we have been ranked #1 at some point in the season.  That's unmatched.  Maybe someone can verify that.)

I too am soooo happy for the sr's on out team and the jr's who have worked so hard.  Cecil has a great column about why this win is so sweet; says it all as only Cecil can. (Sorry, can't link to Tusca News.)

I will be interested to see how Clemson reacts to this loss.  Texas has still not recovered.  ND has not gotten back to being a #1 ranked team.  FL and LSU have never gotten back to where they were before NC losses.

Proud Bama keep on rollin'...

When they limited scholarships to even the competition, they said dynasties were over. When they introduced the NC game, this was supposed to make it tougher to repeat, and when they went to a four-team playoff, many said Bama couldn't knock them all off.

Now they're talking eight teams.  Why don't they just face the reality that the high Tide is here to stay.

I remember the NC's from 1978 on as I was a bit young to be "into" football during the 60's and early 70's.  Nevertheless, I also remember when Tennessee and Phat Phil were rolling in the top recruiting class each year and then doing absolutely nothing with them...Now, Coach Saban & Co. have been rolling in the top recruiting classes for several years and producing NC's with them.  Even when we aren't in the hunt for a NC we are still favored to win our games and most of the time we do... We are truly blessed as Bama fans to have the best coach leading the best team in the nation...

All of these Natty's are presenting me with a pleasant problem.  I may have to go buy another hat tree for my NCG caps.

USA Today says this was only Saban's sixth best team which means it was his best coaching year.
