No doubt this is an effort by delusional Alabama fans to make Auburn and Cam Newton look bad by trying to prove how thuggish they are. Finebaum will exaggerate this conduct when all it's just some some guys feeling their oats and not really causing a problem.

Four Auburn football players have been kicked off the team after being arrested and charged with robbery, burglary and theft.

Mike McNeil, Antonio Goodwin, Shaun Kitchens and Dakota Mosley all were arrested early Friday morning in Auburn, Ala.

Auburn police said that three people entered a house and displayed a handgun and stole property. After a motor vehicle stop, the four were arrested and a pistol and stolen property were recovered, according to Auburn police.

Later Friday, Auburn coach Gene Chizik issued a statement saying all four players were thrown off the team.

"The players arrested in connection with this deeply troubling incident have been permanently dismissed from our football team," Chizik said in a statement. "While we realize the legal process will run its course and these young men have a right for their case to be heard, playing for Auburn University is an honor and a privilege. It is not a right."

Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs said in a statement: "This type of behavior will not be tolerated at Auburn. I fully support Coach Chizik's swift and decisive action to dismiss these four student-athletes from our football team effective immediately."

All four were being held in the Lee County Detention Center on $511,000 bail.

"I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the actions of these individuals," Chizik said in a statement. "I want to personally apologize to all of those who were impacted by this senseless act, including the victims, Auburn University and the Auburn family."

I think they got confused when Malzahn told them to practice proper execution of the shotgun.

Check out the picture of Kitchens. Two of these guys are 4 star recruits. McNeil had one year of eligibility left. I wonder if Terry Bowden has contacted him yet?

What scholly's, I thought you had to follow the rules in order to have a schooly period. Is that not true if you loose out tough nobody else can pick them up. That does however back count next year doesn't it? RTR!

dunno ricky, but I am guessing that they would get those scolarships next year.  Hopefully by then the hammer will have dropped  :pray:

I'm guessing they cannot reassign those scholarships for this semester.  In the summer session and this fall, the scholarships would be available for someone else.

I would love to be a fly on that courtroom wall. When they say CGC told us to steal everyball we could. So we went after who might have one. RTR!

Rumor has it they are all pleading innocent due to the fact they didn't know it was against the law to do such a thing.

On a serious note.  What in the world is going on that scholorship athletes are committing armed robbery?

I realize this has happened at bama before (i think), so I am not coming down on the boogers in particular.

I just wonder, is it drugs?  Thug life?  Money?

The young ones are growing up too quick, they don't understand that there are rules in life that govern all of us and it's called the law.

Yeah, but armed robbery?  A lot of kids are stupid, have no parents or personal responsibility or class, but the dont rob people.

I would add lack of financial responsibility and skills.  It's mid-way through the semester so they've probably blown through their "spending money", ie grants they received at the beginning of the semester.  

True.  Add "lack of intelligence" to the list.

Seriously, I don't know.  Maybe it's a symptom of putting them on a pedestal, and they start thinking they are entitled.  Like the "power-blindness syndrome" that is blamed when senators, congressmen, governors, or the President does something stupid (like cigar an intern).

By the time the lawyers get involved, the players will be innocent.  It'll become a "game they were playing", whereby they were told to go to the house and pretend to be criminals.  Then they got there and it wasn't a game, so they panicked.  WHO KNOWS???

Unless it's changed in recent years, they get a monthly bit of spending money (not a once-a-semester payment).

I think it could be a combination of all three, especially the thug life. Many of these guys grow up in a bad situation and they never outgrow their thuggish "friends" and habits. Jimmy Johns and Jeremy Elders blew it at the Capstone, a total waste.
