Title: Alabama vs South Carolina in Basketball
Post by: Marshal Dillon on January 30, 2016, 02:05:42 PM
Here we go again, another big game and on the road. As a poster said, every game is a big game for Bama now. On SEC Network @ 5 pm.

In our game with UT, Coleman & Taylor saw limited minutes & I expect to see that again. Both players have had major issues with their performance. I hope Norris shoots more and I like how Hale has become more active during the game.

Coleman has turf toe is why his playing time was limited. CAJ said he will play but not sure how much. Hall is improving as the year goes on and starting to take Taylor's minutes.

Wow, Taylor is starting. I am really surprised. Hope Hall is okay. Maybe they were trying to get Taylor's attention.

Well, at this rate SC will shoot 25 FT's & we will have 2 or 3 players fouled out.

I have watched all I can tonight. Lordy we look bad. Open 3's drive to the basket and can't hit. We play defense ok but USCe has gone cold for a while too. RTR!

Bama only down by 5,  hard to believe really.  Game is still winnable.

At this point, though, there is plenty of fodder for the "Ugly" column.

Obasohan has scored 16 consecutive points for the Tide.

But Bama can't stop SC from dunking the ball.

Outstanding statement on our ineptitude at rebounding. As rebounders our guys make great statues.
78-64 SC  Final

The refs were generous with the foul whistle tonight.  They called a foul on Hale and he was 5 feet away from the player he supposedly fouled.   :stars:

That's a big disparity in FT attempts. Sounds like either we were a little to handsy out there or the refs were whistle happy.

I'm not looking for excuses in the Bama loss but the officiating ruined what could have been a good basketball game. I'm not the only one that seemed to feel that way either as the television commentators were about as disgusted. The commentators mentioned more than once at how physical SC was playing but Bama was getting most of the whistles.

There's no way to evaluate a teams performance when the refs blow the whistle as they did last night. This win was critical for Bama because it was a winnable road game that could have had a big affect on their chances of making it to the Big Dance. I was proud of them though for hanging in there at the end but the continued whistles gave Bama very little chance of pulling out the victory.

Bama is a beat up team physically right now and that isn't good as they head down the home stretch of the schedule. Hopefully they will look at last night's film and learn how to better handle the situation that they faced last night, especially their mental side of the game.

Thank you, J.
This type of quality assessment is refreshing.  No need to list a bunch of errors or stats without discussion.
I didn't watch the game, but now I understand where our team stands and the needs they have going forward.

I watched most of the second half and tired of the home cooking as well. Some things are never going to change, regardless of the talent you put on the floor.

Obasohan played very well, but unfortunately saw limited minutes due to the avalanche of foul calls against Bama.   He was in foul trouble early and often.

Jamos is right, the one-sided foul calls kept Bama out of the game.

I agree with all the bad officiating comments. The refs took us out of the game. USCe was allowed to be much more physical than we were. They also allowed USCe to camp out in the lane. Not one 3 second call. USCe was allowed to stay in the lane long enough to establish position and block out like you teach defensive players to do. They shot 21 more free throws than us.

Such is life on the road in the SEC.

Sounds like you guys are saying the SEC BB refs are worse than the FB refs.  That doesn't seem possible.

McBaman I have to say I am one that does not think the refs had that much to do with us losing the game. We were physically not matching up and our talent right now is down as opposed to all the other SEC teams. It will take a few years but we will be a challenger once CAJ gets his players on the floor. The mindset I am afraid is a big problem right now on expecting to win. JMHO. RTR!
