Carson was not going to win, but Cruz probably did steal enough votes to put him ahead of Trump and Rubio. One precinct reported that only 1 person voted for Carson after the Cruz people lied and said that Carson had suspended his campaign. In another precinct Carson's wife actually showed up to make her speech after the Cruz people had told their lies. She set the record straight and Carson ended up winning that precinct.
