Title: Special Prayers for 2Stater and Family
Post by: Jamos on February 24, 2016, 05:46:02 AM
I know this doesn't belong on the Quad but I posted it here so those of you that don't look at  the Crimson Red Daily that often would see the post.

2Stater and family really need our prayers. For the past few months they have gone through several traumatic and heartbreaking issues within the family. For those of you that have never met 2Stater, you couldn't meet a nicer person. I've had the pleasure of spending some time with him the family and have enjoyed every minute of it.

The storm last night is just the latest of the bad news for them. I got a text from 2 yesterday concerning another bad issue within the family which I won't go into any discussion as I will let him give the details of that and then last night the tornado.

So please, in the days ahead, remember 2Stater and family in your daily prayers because their morale has to be as low as it can be right now and only God can heal the heartbreak that they are suffering.

Well said, Jamos.  They certainly have our thoughts and prayers.

For those of you who didn't see it, check the Daily thread about last night's tornado:

2, you certainly are in my prayers.  In fact, if you need some help, extra hands, please let me know.  I have extra vacation saved and am not too far away.  I have my Tacoma, chainsaws, and whatever else.  Just let me know and I'll be on the way.  Would be proud to help out.

No word on him since last night, so I'm sure he's busy.
I offered to let them stay with us, if necessary, so he knows we're willing to help.  I'll relay your message if he doesn't respond himself soon.

I sent Brosky's offer and said we're all willing to help.  Text from 2:

"Thanks buddy.  The crews worked through the night and have our road cleared and my car free.  I emailed you some pics earlier, but I don't think they will send until I get service back.  Neighborhood is in shambles."

I'll post the pics when they arrive.

"Thank y'all very much.  No structural damage to the house."

He said his privacy-fence gate was ripped off, but nothing much else appears damaged.  I cautioned him to request an insurance check of the roof.  Hail damage may go undetected until they check closely, and the shingles will come off months later.

That is so true.  An insurance adjuster would go up in the attic and check the supports as well.

Heck, a patented Bama $100 handshake might get him a new roof if he needs one.

Guys, y'all have truly warmed my heart. I'm posting this from my phone as it will be quite some time before we have power or Internet and I've only now been able to get internet on my phone.

Last night was a harrowing experience. As most of you had, we were tracking the storm coming off the Gulf. It appeared that it would track west of us, but as you know, we ended up in the crosshairs.

Mrs 2 and I were in the tub and immediately heard the roar. We couldn't believe it was happening. We heard it pass over the house and thought we were goners. Thanks to the good Lord, we were not injured. Many in our neighborhood were not so fortunate, however, I have not heard of any fatalities from our area.

Most of that big Live Oak in the picture that Chech posted of our house is gone. It completely blocked the street and covered the front of my car. Best I can tell, the car and the privacy fence gate are the only things damaged besides all the power and phone lines that were ripped out. I will post pictures when I can. My next door neighbor was also very fortunate. A felled tree missed his back door and AC unit by inches.

Thank all of you very much for your thoughts and prayers. As Jamos posted, we've been going through one of the most difficult periods of our lives, and your outpouring of thoughts and prayers and offers if help are very much appreciated! Thank you all very much!

My brother you are welcome. God our Heavenly Father loves us all. He answers prayers when we come humbly before him. One of the greatest HONORS I can have is to take person before GOD. Now that is a trust that I would NEVER take lightly. Give our love to the family all. RTR!

I doubt if it will be long before you get power, but if you find out it might be then old Bill here has a generator, still in the box.  You are more than welcome to use it.

The black lady at that complex in the news interview, I just wanted to grab and hold her, poor thing, still in shock.  And my neighbor was the one doing the interview.

I've been caught up in those things 2, in north Al, back in the 4/3/74 outbreak, Tanner.  I picked up family belongings strewn across a field up into the tree line.  Not our house, but a neighbors, wiped clean to the slab.  The house was but a couple years old, but the slab looked like it was poured the previous day.  We rode it out in the hall and bathroom, unscathed, yet families a quarter mile away lost their lives.

My hat is off to the tireless crews that have worked around the clock and are still working. This includes the Escambia County Sheriffs Dept. these people have done an outstanding job and have to be exhausted. Kudos to them all!!!

2's photos from last night finally came through.  They appear to be his front yard, and the oak tree that once shaded his house.  Since the pics came through, guess that means his power was restored!!

In August 28, 1992 Mrs Dottie and I was in New Iberia, LA where I was working on the ARCO modules to be sent up to Alaska and Hurricane Andrew came through. We were battered for 8 hours with winds as high as gusts to 145 miles an hour. We had sustained winds I believe it was 135 miles an hour for 7 to 8 hours. It even stripped the sheathing off the sugar cane and flooded everything. Snakes were in peoples houses and alligators were in the roads and fields near our apartment complex. My wife was on her knees praying for the whole time. Houses all around us was torn to rips and our door frame liked about 1/4" being blown out. I never remembered other than in the Army when I was so scared. When it was over Dottie loaded the truck by herself and as we went out some neighbors and I looking around and trying to help when I got back Mrs Dottie said are you going with me? I said HUH? She said I am going to Alabama with my belongings and if you want to go you better get in this truck. Needless to say my working for big money in LA. was over.
The bad part we caught the backside of the storm in Meridian Miss and it was having tornadoes and we had to stay in a motel over night again she was upset. The next it was sunshine and when we crossed the state line i thought she was going to get out and kiss the ground. People I will say today that only my FATHER in Heaven kept us safe from Andrew. This is why i ache for people who go through storms and the devastation because I been there and seen that. RTR!

Hey, 2. Haven't been on for a bit and just read through the post. You and your family are in our prayers. Thank God you are all okay.

We were in Rainbow City visiting my mom the day Alabama had that horrible tornado breakout; one hitting Tuscaloosa. Scariest thing I've been through.

We live in Texas but if there is anyway we can help, please let me know.

Thanks Merk. We are indeed ok. As bad as this was, it doesn't hold a candle to the tornadoes in T-town and the rest of the state that day.

I guess I've had my head in the sand because I hadn't even heard about a tornado in Pensacola.  Wish I'd checked in sooner so I could've started praying sooner!  Hope all is well as possible, my friend.
