Texas A&M continues to inch closer to the SEC while the rest of the Big 12 has no idea whether it's playing Duck Duck Goose or Musical Chairs.

WV?  Where's that B.S. flag.

West Virginia wouldn't necessarily be a bad addition, I'm just not sure why they would be the first target unless others have already quietly declined.

What kind of a money market does WV bring to the table? I hope this is nothing more than media gossip.

Agreed.  With apologies to MW (wherever he is), adding WV is like another UGA to the SEC East.  The West gets a 7th-ranked team, more like another Booger (complete with the original Booger jokes).

I'm not excited about WV.  I want UNC or UVA, if we're aiming low.

WV has a decent football team and usually has a pretty good basketball team.  I don't think they'd bring much in terms of TV market, but I don't really know anything about that.

UNC and UVA are ACC all the way.  Seems like Clemson, GT, or the Florida schools would be a better choice.

I don't think UVA or UNC are interested either.  Just said I prefer them to WV.

The SEC apparently isn't interested in "Clemson, GT, or the Florida schools"; no TV money.  For the fans, this expansion is about rivalry and excellence in football.  For the decision-making folks at the SEC office, it's all about money.

Unfortunately I know you're right.  If we go to 16 teams we might lose the annual game with Tennessee, or never play Florida or Georgia in the regular season again unless they can find a way to get most of the original SEC teams in one division.  The problem with that would be that one division would be stacked and the other would be weak.

I have a feeling that in the end we're not going to like the outcome of all this.

Unfortunately, you may be right.

The WV thing is based on a tweet.  Everyone knows tweets are highly reliable.   :eyeroll:

Probably about as reliable as the other rumor listed in the story that, "Texas, Syracuse, UConn and Rutgers are going to leave their respective conferences and join the ACC."  That will never happen.

Don't forget about Mizzou.  If Big12 crumbles they will be looking for a place to land. I'd rather bring them in than WVA.

But bigger problem is that SEC needs to add a strong team to the East.  How is that going to happen?  Maybe the Barn moves to the East??

I still think Va Tech will be # 14.

Isn't Va Tech a military school?

I think TA&M is a great additon. I welcome them whole heartedly. I do however think it is awfully quiet on the Clemson front although I did think they would be next. I do however know USCe is scared of them and their recruiting so maybe not. FSU has only WV and VT for competition iin their present place. I don't think they move at all. Bobby went in the ACC so he could win all his games he knew he had no competition so they are out for sure. I don't think WV would come here to much good football in the SEC for them. It is all they can do to get to a BCS bowl now. JMHO @ the Present. RTR!

A Texas team in the Southeastern Conference is as ridiculous as the Big Ten having 12 teams.

I heard that Vandy abstained from voting, which is their usual practice apparently.  I heard the no vote was Ole Miss.  I guess they prefer to be 6th place instead of 7th in the West.  I have no idea if any of that is accurate though.

:D

The only reason Vandy came to the meeting was to see if the SEC was handing out checks.

Poor Ole Miss. Well someone has got to come in last.

If we already have Auburn in the conference, why would we need another in Clemson?

Hey bamaPHD, my thoughts were the Rival of Dabo playing Auburn and Alabama. I then thought of Clemson against USCe, Ga. Tenneessee. I think that could become a great rivalry. I did not realize WV was on the chart. My thoughts were Clemson and VA. next. RTR!

WV would be a huge mistake. No TV market, unruly and football ignorant fanbase, poor logistics for visiting teams which will cost lost practice or rest, no value in recruiting, no money or stadium size, etc. I'm completely embarassed it is under consideration and hope it is just a stupid interwebz rumor.

I don't think you have to worry about WV getting an invite unless the SEC expands to 30 teams or so. They bring nothing to the table as you so eloquently pointed out.

Visitors take a chance of being beaten up in front of their wife and kids. Decent folks (from WV) fighting to protect the guests on campus. White trash punks.

Vandy doesn't vote because they feel guilty for having such a lousy football team.
