Title: Battle of the basics: Tide, Nittany Lions both value technique, fundamentals Post by: pmull on September 10, 2011, 07:10:53 AM Like their classic uniforms, like their legendary coach, like their cavernous stadium - and what is there not to like? - Penn State is nothing fancy on a football field.
"Those are the hardest teams to play against, because they don't make mistakes," said Alabama coach Nick Saban, whose third-ranked Crimson Tide (1-0) pays a 2:30 p.m. CDT visit today to No. 23 Penn State (1-0). "Most of the time, mental errors and mistakes that you make lead to negative consequences in a game," Saban said. "When a team doesn't do that very much, they don't have many negative consequences they have to deal with. You have to create that, you have to match that, you have to play very well, very sound, very physical against them, or you're going to have problems." http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/09/battle_of_the_basics_no_3_tide.html Title: Re: Battle of the basics: Tide, Nittany Lions both value technique, fundamentals Post by: BAMAWV on September 10, 2011, 07:38:42 AM Legacy smegacy! Bama is 9-4 against Paterno and even Paterno's Mom has to admit we were cheated out of 1 and it should be 10-3. We've discussed his powder puff schedule BEFORE joining the Big Ten. We've discussed the Big Ten's lack of success against the SEC. I'd give them a participation trophy at best.
