Title: Nice Article on Kiff

I always thought Kiff needed to stay at Bama for at least 3-years to launder himself from all the 'stuff' in his past.  That process is working for him...and us!  Now I think we'll be lucky if he stays past this year.  But maybe...

Very good article. This, to me, is what makes Kiffin a great OC:

Quote
Maybe the most visible evidence of Kiffin's brilliance came during the national championship. Clemson was playing a lot of man defense and Kiffin noticed their linebackers were slow moving across the formation. So he put a tight end on the right off the ball and let him slide left up the field. Calling screens and "naked slides," the linebackers couldn't find the tight end by the time the ball was snapped. They couldn't catch Howard, who went from a fourth or fifth option in the passing game during the season to hauling in 208 yards and two touchdowns during Alabama's 45-40 win in Arizona.

I'll admit that I thought Saban had lost his mind when he hired Kiffin. I didn't think there was any way it would work. I'm glad I was wrong, and looking forward to what he can with such a talented group of receivers this year.

He is certainly earning his pay. Plus, he's dipping into the honey jar for bonuses. :lol2:

If he can find a QB to throw to them, he could be signaling TD a lot this year.

After seeing what he did with Blake Sims and Jake Coker, I have no doubt he'll develop whoever wins the job into a winner.

I would have to agree with you. Everything I'm hearing sounds like Hurts is the best one on the field. But I just can't see Saban giving an 18 year old true freshman, the keys to the kingdom. I'm also hearing that the job is Bateman's to lose. I guess we'll find out before too long.

I think he should stay at least and win one or 2 NC's and that would really get the money flowing and the attention of every school out there. It wouldn't matter what the past looked like. NC's at Alabama would make all the bad things go away for a lot of Power 5 schools. RTR!

Kiff had Bateman last year and that didn't work out too well.  Hard for me to believe this year will be dramatically different.  Plus I keep hearing that Bateman is lacking in arm strength.

I feel like we are more "at risk" at the QB position than we have been in several years.  Blake had been in the program 4-years and had run a lot of snaps in games (admittedly in mop-up time), and Jake had 2-years development at FSU + a year at Bama.  Ex Bateman, our QB choices are 'greener' than Blake & Jake were.  So we'll need all Kiff's magic to find the right guy.

Kiffin is not the OC we are used to at Alabama.  He's not a grind-it-out type guy.  But he's almost always good for a TD or two a game where he has something set up perfectly, and we walk into the endzone untouched.  He definitely plays some chess.

Remember the Tennessee game last year? They ran Ridley on the end-around several times throughout the game. With the game on the line in the fourth quarter Ridley started right again, but this time Coker handed to Henry who went left and scored the winning TD. It was beautiful to see how he'd set them up for that.

Good write up.  I looked Alex up, yeah, a homer for us, but I'll take it any day.   :lol2:

But he has a twitter account now and he is not afraid to use it.  Who knows what he might tweet between now and then that keeps the ADs away.  :lol2:

Yep. He plans 5 moves ahead of everyone else.

No doubt we will miss him when he leaves.
