TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Yet-to-be-eligible wide receiver Duron Carter practiced Wednesday with Alabama's scout team.

After problems regarding his transcript from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, Carter joined the Alabama team on Aug. 29, but he has yet to play. Carter did not travel to Penn State because Alabama learned late in the week that he had not been certified by Alabama.

"I've got no new information to report," Alabama coach Nick Saban said after Wednesday's practice. "I don't know what to tell you."

Junior cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said the other day that he weighed 165 pounds when he first arrived at Alabama in 2009. He weighs 195 now, and he's starting to throw his weight around. he forced two fumbles that Alabama recovered at Penn State.

"Dre is a lot stronger now, plays a lot more physical," Saban said. "He's really become a better tackler. I never questioned his toughness. There's a difference between being tough and being physical.

"I think being a long, lean guy, he had toughness, but he had a hard time maintaining that physical presence. He certainly improved that. He got a lot bigger and a lot stronger and plays that way on the field and I think it's certainly helped his performance in these first two games."
