Title: Alabama Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Ball State, 77-59
Post by: pmull on November 19, 2016, 06:36:28 AM
Alabama blew out Ball State last night. It was never close. We led by as much as 29 late in the game. Ball State closed it to the 18 point final difference in the closing minutes when we had two walk-ons on the floor. We beat them in every phase of the game except free throw shooting where we continue to struggle at 59%. We were red hot from the 3 pt line 12-23 52%.

An expected win but a good win none the less. We play Valparaiso on Monday in Las Vegas.

UA bench scored 59 points to lift the Tide to an 18-point win.

The Alabama men's basketball team used a strong performance from its reserves as it defeated Ball State, 77-59, on Friday night in Coleman Coliseum. Senior Shannon Hale led the Tide with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor in 19 minutes of action.

Hale was joined in double-figures by junior Ar'Mond Davis' 17 points, while sophomore Avery Johnson Jr. added 13 points, six assist and five boards. All three players came off the bench to lead the Tide.

Avery Johnson Jr. was the highlight of the game for me. No one has given him much credit for his basketball skills only that he is the coach's son. Hopefully he can continue his leadership in the games ahead as he did last night. I don't think I have ever heard of the bench providing the bulk of points scored in a game as Bama did last night, I think it was 59 points. That is very encouraging for the team.

Good win for the team. Glad everybody got to play. Looks like if we keep developing and creating some team chemistry, this team could go somewhere.

AJ Jr stat line is incredible. He was 5-7 (3-3 3pt) from the field for 13 points, 5 rebounds 6 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and only 1 turnover. Coach's son or not that is pretty good.

This is super. I still believe we have some young talent that by year's end we will be better than we have been since Gottfried days of his early days. RTR!

Jamos, you or anyone else know if Brandon Key is okay? He got hit near the face (he wears the hockey mask) & appeared to be in real pain and was taken to the locker room.

He took a blow to the face mask. He was bleeding and had to be taken to the locker room to get cleaned up. Blood was on his jersey so he came back out in a new jersey number (14) and continued to play.
