Title: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Monday 11/21 Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 21, 2016, 09:47:15 PM No tv and the game is late at night. Starts at 11 pm CDT from Las Vegas. Ricky if you're awake at 11, it's on 95.5 out of Anniston. Not sure what might be closer for you. The tournament is the MGM Grand Main Event Tournament at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Winner plays the winner of the BYU/St. Louis game. Valparaiso went to the NCAA Tournament last year & has a solid BB history. Last years coach was hired as the new coach of Vandy.

:popcorn2: Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 21, 2016, 11:53:28 PM Alpo defense looks quick & aggressive. 11 turnovers by Bama. 34-29 Valpo. Too much perimeter shooting by Bama.

Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 22, 2016, 12:52:31 AM Tide shooting 31% in 2nd half.

Very poor game by Hale & Riley. Ingram & Collins 10 points each. Ingram was hot and cold in the game. :gn: Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: bamaphil on November 22, 2016, 03:50:52 AM I was able to watch most of the game. It was a pretty miserable performance by Bama, with the same problems as always. I hope CAJ can get the team to play above their individual levels. But I'm beginning to fear this is going to be a disappointing season.
Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: pmull on November 22, 2016, 06:30:38 AM This one hurts. We have time to get better and gel as a team but we need to come out of non-conference no worst than 9-4 (hoping for 10-3). We still have Texas, Oregon and Texas still to play. Oregon beat Valpo by 20.
Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: bamaphil on November 22, 2016, 07:36:57 AM Did anybody else watch the game? There was a really strange sequence early on. Valpo made a 3, and the announcers said a foul was called on the shot. But instead of getting a free throw, Valpo got the ball and made another 3. I've never seen anything like that. I don't know under what rule a team can make and shot and immediately be given the ball. Maybe there was a foul off the ball after the shot?
Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: ricky023 on November 22, 2016, 08:01:26 AM Sounds we need to learn some defense on the perimeter. I did not get to watch the game but from what is being said here guarding 3's would make a lot harder for a team to score on 3's. RTR!

Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 22, 2016, 09:58:51 AM I tried to find the game on the espn app but I didn't see it. Knowing the outcome, I'm glad I didn't waste my time. It is so frustrating to watch them lose. >:(
Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: SUPERCOACH on November 22, 2016, 10:00:45 AM After all the work & talk in the off-season, WTH is going on here? I think we just need to get more recruits on campus. I'm sure we will show improvement each year though while we wait. Well we knew that we are not going to win a NC the first 3 years probably but when these 5*'s start playing together we will be winning games we smile and giggle about. It is going to be a slow learning process and we gave the other guy several years without any hope but now we have Hope so I think we must be patient I would not be surprised if we make the Big Dance this year. THE GOOD Tide shot 50% in first half. Donta Hall had 9 points & 12 rebounds in 23 minutes 34 points in paint (Valpo 20) 26 bench points (8 points) 13 off. rebounds (8 points) THE BAD Donta Hall played only 23 minutes despite his rebounding & scoring Points off turnovers Valpo 24 (Tide 17) Bola Olaniya started & scored 0 points & 0 rebounds with 2 turnovers in 6 minutes (should be in UGLY) Valpo won 68-60 AND THE UGLY Shannon Hale, senior, disappeared. 0 points, 1 rebound, 2 turnovers in 13 minutes. Ar'Mond Davis, JUCO shot 0/f 3 pointers, & 0/8 FG's overall for 0 points & 1 rebound in 14 minutes Tide shot 9/28 FG's, 32% in second half Valpo shot 47% for game, 39% in 3 pointers (which is good) Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: ricky023 on November 22, 2016, 11:59:23 AM The fact that he just signed the #2 recruiting class is already a big accomplishment that CAG never achieved. I didn't know this. That is super great. RTR! Title: Re: Alabama & Valparaiso Basketball Tonight Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 22, 2016, 12:51:55 PM After all the work & talk in the off-season, WTH is going on here? I think we just need to get more recruits on campus. I'm sure we will show improvement each year though while we wait. I understand the frustration & anxiety but SC nailed it. We are still feeling the affects of 6 lost years under Anthony Grant. Added to this, so far, is the inexplicable play of some upperclassmen. The poor performance of Shannon Hale & shaky performane of Riley Norris is really hurting us. Three transfers in, Collins, Davis, & Oliniyan have been up & down (Collins & Davis) to disastrous (Olaniyan). I still think Collins can be better. There is no senior leadership that I can see. Hall & Taylor do seem more lively around the basket. Despite all this, we have played close in both losses. We will have to wait at least another 10-12 games to get a better read on this team. :dog: |
