Title: NYT - Syracuse and Pitt in Talks With A.C.C.
Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on September 16, 2011, 11:15:26 PM

I can imagine these stories will increase all year.

Quote
Syracuse University and the University of Pittsburgh, two bedrock members of the Big East Conference, are engaged in talks about joining the Atlantic Coast Conference, according to a person with direct knowledge of the talks.

No one from Pittsburgh, Syracuse or the A.C.C. denied the conversations were taking place. Officials from all three entities declined to comment on the matter.

The person with knowledge of the talks declined to speculate on a timetable or the seriousness of the discussions. But in this delicate time for conferences and their futures, the discussions between the 12-team A.C.C. and two Big East members are significant.

If the ACC initialized these talks, then it would indicate to me that they are looking for bigger TV markets.

Naw, they are looking to replace the 2 that inevitably go to the SEC so they can keep 12 and still have a championship game.  The funny thing is, if they keep going the ACC will be the old Big East.

Good move for the ACC in basketball.  Non-factor in football.

So we'll end up with 3 super conferences and a stupor conference.  Just great.   :eyeroll:

Big East and ACC will be basketball conferences, SEC will be the football conference, PAC 16 will be the softball conference.

And the Big 10 (Big 16?) will be the media darling.  They'll add Boise, Cincy, Bowling Green, and Notre Dame.  :dunno:

We'll see what CAG has to say about that!

I think this would be great for both schools. They would be competitive and have a chance a BCS bowl every year. RTR!

Sorry to argue Preacher, but they have an easier path to a BCS bowl game now. ???

I bet the people in charge at TCU wish they had waited to make a change now, they didn't know what the future holds.

Now you may be right. As I see it they don't have the VA TECH and FSU to play against but I was thinking as if the Big East was going to collapse also. I fail to make that clear in my previous post. I use to lol at the idea of a super conference but now I see it taking place all around us. RTR!
