SURPRISES OF THE WEEK

No. 1 Oklahoma (2-0) at No. 5 Florida State (2-0): This is supposed to be some super duper Oklahoma team. And it might be with its offense that doesn't fool around. Its objective is to hang 90 to 100 plays on a defense. The 3½-point favored Sooners have playmakers galore, a defense that is getting Alabama hype, and quarterback Landry Jones is in the Heisman talk. But the Seminoles are home, have killer defensive speed, especially in the secondary, and the best quarterback on the field might be FSU's E.J. Manuel.

No. 15 Michigan State (2-0) at Notre Dame (0-2): The Fighting Irish are actually a slight favorite because of all those ghosts and history at Notre Dame Stadium. But after opening the season with two losses and a defense that has been the pits, look for the Irish to bounce back against a Spartans team that comes with great expectations.

Notre Dame 36, Michigan State 30

Tennessee (2-0) at No. 16 Florida (2-0): The nine-point favored Gators have owned Tennessee the past six years, including winning four not-very-close games. So why does Tennessee have a chance in The Swamp? Start with Tyler Bray, who has been one of the nation's top passers over the first two games, and a couple of 6-foot-3, go-to receivers in Da'Rick Rogers and Justin Hunter. Tauren Poole isn't Chris Rainey fast but he gives the Vols a big-time running threat. Florida's defense under first-year head coach Will Muschamp is likey to be high energy and targeting Bray. If the Vols can get any help from their defense against Charlie Weis' pro-style offense, this could be a signature moment for Derek Dooley.
