TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Even when he talks, Darius Hanks isn’t a high-volume kind of guy.

The Alabama wide receiver is more soft-spoken off the field -- a place he’s spent more time than he’d like this September.

Issues relating to his medical redshirt season in 2007 meant the wide receiver had to sit out the first two games of this season to earn his senior season eligibility back. So, for two weeks, he sat and watched a host of young players fill the void pretty well.

Now it’s time to return. Hanks, though, didn’t want to talk about his return until it was completed. That should come at 7:30 p.m. today at Bryant-Denny Stadium when North Texas takes its best shot at No. 2 Alabama under the lights.

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban liked the way Hanks handled his unwanted time away from competition.

“I don’t think his transition back will be a problem,” Saban said. “The guy’s been playing around here for two or three years. He has a lot of experience. He’s been the scout team player of the week two weeks in a row because he’s been working against the defense for the scout team period. … There should be no transition period here. There should be no problems.”
