Title: Auburn Posters About the Clemson Loss
Post by: Marshal Dillon on September 17, 2011, 05:17:18 PM
Interesting comments. Of course, you still have the usual crew of delusional fans who think they can still have a good year. Some are even questioning the coaching of Chiznik.

5-7 is a pretty good year for them. I can see why they would still be upbeat about the year.

Yeah, right now, they are staring 5-7 in the face with possible losses to:

So. Carolina
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Arkansas
Alabama

I thik they finish 6-6. They should be 4-8 with losses to Miss. St. & especially Utah State.

Out of that list I can only see GA as a possible win.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. The AU defense is beyond bad, it's incredibly bad.

Auburn is so pitiful. They shouldn't even be awarded space with Alabama on this board. RTR!

Did some quick checking on yardage and points barn has given up so far:

1) Utah State - 448 yards, 38 points
2) MSU - 335 yds, 34 points
3) Clemson - 624, 38 points

So in three games, that's 1,407 yards of offense and 110 points. I think incredibly bad is an understatement.

Add 200.  It was 535 surrendered to MS State.

Oops. Looked at the wrong number. Thanks Doc, and the barners thank you, too.

I was listening to the game on the radio today while I was driving around.  Their own announcers sound dumbfounded.  They kept using the word "pitiful" when describing the D.  Pitiful tackling, pitiful on 3rd down, etc.

I expect their defense to be last in the NCAA after this weekend.    :o

Even with their fairly potent offense, they've been outgained by about 400 yards in 3 games.  Pathetic is the right word, SC.

Amazing they are 2-1.  Lucky barners.

Well you have to say Clemson had a little more "D" than the others had. RTR!

Unless there is some major improvement & a miracle, Ted Roof, DC, is toast, assuming he makes it alive through the season.

Do you think the Barners know that DC stands for defensive coordinator and not door checker?   ???

This is such a sobering loss.

Clemson is a mediocre ACC squad. And, like every other offense we've faced, they embarrassed our defense. That's not really surprising - we're growing accustomed to bad defense at Auburn - but it's still very troubling.

And the offense stopped scoring today. We've put up 3 points since the middle of the 2nd quarter. The offense isn't good enough to consistently carry a truly embarrassing defense. I don't know if we're good enough to win 6 games. We have Ole Miss and a couple of non-conference gimmes that we should win. Beyond that, based on what we've seen so far this season, we should lose the remainder of our games. Nearly everyone in the league is better than us.

In games where we turn the ball over, we're going to get embarrassed.

We've gone from national champs and best in the nation to simply bad in one season. That shouldn't be possible based on the perception of our recent recruiting classes.  It would appear that our coaching staff - specifically on defense - has failed to adequately develop reasonably good talent.  I understand that we're young and that we should improve.  But watching us play, it's evident that we're bad at the fundamentals and we're bad at recognition and we don't execute.  And no player steps up and makes any plays.

We can score.  We'll be at least okay on offense - especialy if Malzahn can learn to resist some of his "let me show you how clever I am" urges and just give the ball to Dyer as the basis for the offense.  But "okay" on offense isn't nearly good enough to overcome this defense.

Overall, we're just not a very good football team this season.

I don't know that Clemson is better than Ole Miss.  They aren't very good, and they just embarrassed us when it looked like we were going to win going away.

I think the only gimmies we got left are Samford and Florida Atlantic.  We could potentially win just 4 games this year.

Doh!  I don't have an account.  So what is their reaction?

I don't believe in karma, but after all the close games that Auburn won last year and the beginning of this year I've got to believe that they're going to catch some bad breaks in the future.  Yes, they won the national championship on the back of a rented mule last year, but how many of those games did they win in the last minute?  They could easily have been 6-6 last year and are lucky they're not 0-3 this year.  Chizik is not a good coach and Roof is terrible.  Lucky for us Chizik will be hard to run off for a few more years.  In five years Auburn will be the least dangerous team in the SEC.
