Tide looking good so far. Olaniyan comes in and makes immediate impact around basket with 2 baskets. 26 all.

Tide has 12 OFFENSIVE rebounds so far in 1st half. 29-26 Tide. Taylor with another block. 30-30 Half. Tide shooting 3/7 FT's. Announcers said Coach Johnson cut the playbook in half to improve game flow and allow more instinctive playing.

Tide starts stone cold in 2nd half. Vandy goes 16-2 till Davis makes 4 point play after being fouled. 46-36 Vandy. Vandy driving to basket since Hall & Taylor not in game.

After being down by 14, Armond Davis comes in and throws in 12 points after not playing in the first half. Tide goes on 17-3 run. Tied 49 all and Hale fouled. Timeout. 7:56 left in game.

Tide playing: Ingram, Hale, Taylor (just blocked a shot, then slams a 2), Davis, Key who is replaced by Collins who hits 3. 56-51 Tide. Taylor is blocking shots and rebounding like a maniac.

Taylor with 10 points, 7 rebounds, & 3 blocks. That's what we have been missing under the basket.

We played hard as a team tonight and it paid off. Defense won the game. Vandy's lowest scoring game of the year. It was sloppy but we defended our home floor. A very good win.

Bama did a great job with their defense the last 10 minutes of the game.  They hit some big shots and different players are contributing.

I was on the road, and got home in time to watch the last 10 minutes.

We won.  But ... Vandy had ample opportunity to win, and miss shots.  Plus, they didn't take advantage of our poor free-throw shooting.

It's a bit painful to watch, but at least we won.   :dunno:

This team is more talented than last years but we do not have a "go to" scorer that can get 18 points/game. Last year we had Obasohan but he had very little help. This years team has a bunch of role players but no "go to" guy. We need to find one. Elite teams have at least two. Defense will keep us in most games. Wins will be ugly but any conference win is a good win. We just need to survive this season as better days are ahead for this program.

Several SEC teams are struggling. LSU (1-2), Auburn (0-3) and Missouri (0-2) look really bad in conference play. A&M was projected to be one of the better SEC teams but they are 0-3. UT is (1-2) but I have not seen them play. Arkansas and Ole Miss are both (1-2) but look good having loses to very good teams.

2-0 in the SEC. Good start. I hope we can keep the momentum. I'm glad Taylor got some production. We need that from the big boys.

First off how does KY look now? I see the stats and I just wondered did we look tired toward the end or was there still some gas in the tank. I know when we use to play BB at Ranburne we had to run laps first and then we practiced, and I believe it made us last longer in the game, just saying. I am glad we won and thanks MD for the updates. Right now we should be on top of the West I guess in the standings, that would be fun just to say it. RTR!

There is no more East and West divisions anymore for basketball, Preacher. All just one big conference. Kentucky & Florida are 3-0 followed by Bama & SC at 2-0.

Florida comes to Coleman Tuesday night. Let's hope Bama can steal a win.

Tall order, but achievable if we can keep from turning the ball over, make free throws, hit some 3 pointers.

This is how I see the SEC shaping up based on the early part of the Season:

Kentucky: Easily the best team. Like Bama in Football big gap to #2.

Florida, South Carolina and UGA: Best behind UK

Arkansas and Ole Miss: Both are 1-2 with loses to UK and UF. They both look good to me.

Bama, A&M, Vandy, UT: All are middle of the pack teams. All are capable of rising to the top or dropping to the bottom.  :dunno:

Auburn, Miss State, LSU and Missouri: Bottom Four

Sounds about right to me. I do think MSU will improve as the year goes on. Howland had an outstanding recruiting year last year. His team is young, but should get better with time.

Can't argue with your assessment of the league at all pmull, good job. After watching the Clemson/Bama game a couple of weeks ago, I left there very down heartened about our team and coaches and was wondering in what direction this season was going. When I left Coleman last night it was a complete 180 degree turnaround feeling of when I left the BJCC not long ago. I could see the potential is there but just hasn't happened yet to be a good team.

What I witnessed last night brought my attention to the word "maturity", something this team has shown very little of this season and there is a good reason for most of that, immaturity of the players for the most part and I'm not just talking about the young ones, I'm talking about the whole team. Maturity isn't something that is given anyone, it is something that you work hard at to learn and grow from and I think I know who to blame that on as far as the upperclassmen of the team. I think I can credit the film room and good practices for a big part of maturity needed for this team and since the Clemson game, I can honestly say that I think this team has done plenty of both since that game as I watched them take a sure win away from Vanderbilt last night. In all reality, CAJ is the sixth player on the floor for the team as he never sits down and is constantly coaching the players on both ends of the court. This was a big part of what change the game last night as the players made many adjustments during the game and in the end they found a way to win, despite all of the earlier mistakes and poor play. This win was a golden lesson of doing what you are told to find a way to win and in other words, maturing.

I guess the best thing for us fans is to be a little patient as the team grows to a higher level team and that is something we have been saying for a long time but I think we have the right coach and staff on hand now to make it happen this time. Bama had a tremendous recruiting year this year and with the addition of those players coming aboard for next season, there will be brighter days ahead for the program. I do believe in what CAJ has been telling us fans all along, "buckle up", because there are better days ahead for this program so just be a little patient and I do believe him.

I see we play Fla. Tuesday night so maybe we pull off a win over them and that might help confidence greatly as well. RTR!

Great observation, J! I was like you, after the Clemson game, I wasn't sure we were going to see anything out of this team at all, but they are starting to gel as a team and they are finding some chemistry.

So now, I'm just going to blame my SIL for the Clemson loss. What was I thinking, bringing an LSU fan to a Bama game?  :lol2:

Excellent observations about the SEC teams right now. UGA & USC are surprising me, but it's early.
