Some of the things he saw Saturday night – the offense struggling in a two-minute situation, failing to convert on a third-and-1 opportunity, bogging down in the red zone in the first half – the coach simply could not ignore. So, Saban wasn’t in a cheerleading mood when Trent Richardson ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns, including second-half touchdown sprints of 58 and 71 yards. And Eddie Lacy’s touchdown carries of 43 and 67 yards, part of a 161-yard performance, earned little more than a shrug. “We ran the ball effectively and made some good plays running,” Saban acknowledged. “We had two guys gain over 150 yards.
