FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- North Texas Coach Dan McCarney knows all about Alabama and the SEC.

McCarney was Florida's defensive line coach the previous three seasons. He helped coach the Gators' 2008 national championship team and coached against the Crimson Tide in 2009, the year they won the national championship.

Alabama's 41-0 victory over North Texas last Saturday night marked the fourth consecutive season McCarney has coached against the Crimson Tide, who open SEC play against No. 14 Arkansas on Saturday.

Asked on Monday what impressed him about No. 3 Alabama, McCarney laughed.

"How much time do you have?" McCarney said. "They're just a truly amazing football team.
