Title: Tide Basketball Players Transferring
Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 24, 2017, 06:34:23 PM
I was wondering if this would happen after the outstanding recruiting class.

Quote
A pair of Alabama men's basketball players will transfer from the Crimson Tide program.

Redshirt junior forward Nick King and sophomore guard Brandon Austin will look to join a new team for the 2017-18 basketball season, BamaOnLine confirmed. The Tuscaloosa News and ESPN were first to report the Alabama basketball transfers.

King, a transfer from Memphis, played in Alabama's first seven games before a lung infection shut him down for the year. An ex-starter at small forward, King averaged 3.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in the Crimson Tide's first seven games of the season.9/quote]

I figured Brandon Austin would. He barely sniffed the floor this year.

This was expected. CAJ is still looking at a late season signing and another grad transfer. In order for that to happen someone had to leave.

I would like to know what King could do if healthy. He started the first 5 or 6 games for us before health issues ended his year. He will graduate this spring and be able to play immediately. Most likely he will get a medical hardship and have two years remaining.

Well as in football the top dogs are heading this way and it is hard for the not so goods we use to have to play anymore. This cag anymore. We are going to have a program like Billy Bonovan had at Fla at one before much longer I trust. RTR!

This^^^

It will also be interesting to see if Davis comes back as well. He improved some at the end of the season but I'm not sure if he wants to hang around for a supporting role. :dunno:

Boy, I sure hope he does stick around. He was probably the best shooter on the team this year. I would think CAJ would want him to stay. Are you hearing something about him leaving, J?

Surprising how many of the "top dogs" playing in the NCAA brackets are transfers.  Seems like every team among the elite has at least one big transfer.

Makes you wonder why!  :dunno:

A few rumors but nothing solid, his problem is playing defense but I'm like you, I thought he played a big role at the end of the season when we made our run for the tournament, I hope he stays.

To some, it it is all about me and my and not about we and us. ;)

True.  And some are caught in various mis-behaviors; sent packing without being formally charged!

Bingo! He hangs around the perimeter way too much. He's very streaky and disappears for games on end. No defense, no play. That's how it goes.

Ar'mond Davis is also transferring. That will leave two scholarships open for the late signing period.

Ar'mond started the year slow but he game on late. He gave the team a spark in several late season wins. He showed he could get to the basket as well as shoot from behind the three point line. Playing time for a shooting guard will be hard to get next year with Ingram, Sexton, Petty and Jones.

I hope he goes to a mid-major and lights it up and enjoys his senior year.

Two story lines regarding Alabama Basketball.

Ar'mond Davis has reconsidered and will return to Alabama for his senior season. Good news. Ar'mond came on late last year and gave the team a spark when he was in the game.

Braxton Key has declared for the NBA Draft but will not sign with an agent. This will allow him to test the waters and withdraw his name prior to the draft if he does not get good feedback. He is not ready and will not get drafted. I think he will return for his sophomore season.

Yeah, Key is not NBA ready. He needs to return and get more experience. At least one more year with a good supporting cast will do a lot more for his draft status.

These kids have their heads filled with the notion that they can play in the NBA and make big money. They will have relatives, friends and agent wannabes telling them how great they are and basically all these hanger-ons want is money for themselves and to heck with the kid.
